Im sure if you could afford a 65" plasma you would pick it over DLP at any time.

DLP: Advantages: You get more size for your money
Disadvantages: Every 2 years or so you need to replace a bulb ($300-400), you need to view the TV directly in front of it, BIG (can't mount it on a wall if you care about that). Longer wait to power up and shut-down. You need to watch TV in a relatively dark room

Plasma: Advantages: more colors (12-bit processing vs 8-bit in DLP) and better picture overall, brighter than DLPs, flat, thin, instan power on.
Disadvantages: More power hungry, you may get burn-in if you play games, more expensive/size, heavier

That all depends on you. Some like plasma, some like DLP. This question is asked all the time here, and you will always get a 50/50 response. My advice is go to a store, look at both types, and decide what you like for yourself.
