Shutters on the beach at Santa Monica is nice, Shade in Manhattan Beach; The Ritz Carlton in Laguna (orange county but very nice); the 4 seasons; there are alot of very cool "boutique" hotels around West Hollywood/design district.

You want cheap, expensive or what? And where in L.A.? Marriott, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Renessaince (sp), Westin, If you are flying into LAX go to a Travelers Aid booth. They are located in every terminal on the lower level. They have bunches of them listed.
