I just got my beagle today and she's 6 weeks old. How can I properly housebreak her without using cruel methods? Please answer by prior experience only. Thank you!

I have 4 dogs myself 3 of which I had to potty train and the best method I have found is just being attentive to their signals. When a puppy is sniffing around in circles it's poop time which is usually 10-30 minutes after a meal. The peeing is a little harder since they usually just stop and go where they are but when you see them going calmly pick them up and take them out to where you want them to go and say go potty. Also if you take them out every 30-45 minutes and say go potty they will get where they are supposed to go rather quickly. I trained my Great Dane in a week or so by using this method. Do not yell at them or ever use their name in a negative way and always use a lot of good job, name! and lots of hugs and petting when they go where they are supposed to. You can also use food rewards but it sometimes back fires as they will learn that if they go out they get food so they will fake you out. It just takes consistency and patience. They will get it though so when you feel like it's never going to happen don't worry it will. Good luck:>)

Where did you get your dog at? Puppies shouldnt be taken from their mothers at 6 weeks. Take the dog back NOW. Or else your dog will have very bad aggression problems. and youll probably end up giving up her to the shelter is she is a real problem. ask for a refund and go get your dog from a good breeder. Or if you really want that puppy (shame you) come back to that breeder when the puppy is at least 8 weeks old.

After you get your new puppy or wait until the dog is 8 weeks then you should purchase a crate. its the best method to use. do a google search on how a crate benfits a dog or not this answer will be pages long.

people can be so rude these day i had my puppy at 5weeks cause the mothers milk dryed up. her is great ,I will say things will take longer with training at first but with time she will get better ,look were she wee,s clean it with water vinger and pepper it removes the smell and she wont go there again ,take her out side ever thew hours and if she dose a wee then tell her how good she is ,she is young and has no bladder control at the moment so keep this in mind. If need be then put down
some new paper and move it out side slow ,till she goes out side , and make sure you change the paper each day .just remember the more times you take her out side she will learn she is a beagle and they are very smart and quick to learn new things ,so good luck and remember you did get her early so things will take longer at first.

try potty pads. they sell them in the store. after she eats put her on the pad or take her out side. you have to do this every time she eats or drinks. or i also crate trained my huskie.let it out during the day then when your ready for bed put it in the crate then when you get up let it out. you got to get up around 8 because i found any later then this causes acidents in the crate.

we took our dog out every two hours (that's about as long as they can hold it) -be prepared for accidents though...did you not do any research be fore you got her?
