I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for pretending to be something I'm not.
My thoughts EXACTLY. How and who I am here is the same as out there... in the "real" world. However, I do think that many people are MORE real here than there, because they aren't hindered by the fact that they have to back up what they say out there with BALLS. And another thought is, certain "groups" have less persecution here.
Peace!

Everyone is pretending to be something they are not. When we stop doing this we will be A CHRIST. Ego is the antichrist. Welcome to my world. Still working on becoming who I really am. I am getting closer and I think progress is crucial. If you don't make progress you are stagnating and wasting your life. You no doubt are not afraid of giving answers here but would you be the same if a judge was threatening to kill you. Would you still say what you want or would you fold. I don't give a crap who threatens me. I stand down to no one. I used to seek approval from all when I was younger. Now I lean toward seeking dissaproval but not that much. I will be balanced with that soon. I totally dig your question and am not ridiculing you at all. Check out mine and you will see that I don't care what others think of me. I am the same face to face except that I don't publicize who I am unless it is asked or the subject comes up and I can't keep my mouth shut. Being yourself is freeing. Be free and live long. The truth shall indeed set you free. Good Journey!

I say we dare to dig into the uncharted territory of ourselves. Q&A's do tell alot about someone. What they chose to answer, and how...
I've been online, digging into myself for 10 years. IT's made an impact on who I am to the outside world. More open. Happier,...
If online is new to someone, they do tend to get crazed with the freedom. The feedback is addicting. Seeing your own words is liberating. Restraint tends to comes with time. Digging in, should be able to tap into deeper aspects. So, the sensationalism tends to not be all that much of a draw. I give people the benefit through that experience. Whether they carry on in real life the way they do here can really be seen as enjoying an alternate reality. We get to do that now. Lord knows, we been made to be complacent to the point that to do so here would redundant.
One last thing that I find interesting about internet alter-ego's. I go to classes in Quantum-Spirituality that has an online classroom to go with it. That way we see each other and we also talk online.
Some still change drastically online, even knowing that they will see each later that week. One guy gets nuts and then hardly talks in class.
I would say that he's working on himself, and I just stay out of his way. Yesh...

No, none of us are real. We're all figments of your imagination.
And now, if you'll just walk through that door behind you, the men in the white coats will take you to your new home.

I'm being honest with my answers.
But I can get a bit nasty with some when I sense intolerance, stereotyping, prejudgement and bitterness.
Lord knows I struggle enough with that myself sometimes, so of course I expect everybody else to be perfect just like me (sigh).

I respect you immensely for being exactly the person that you are. Always honest, sometimes brutally so, patient, loving and kind. You have been so good to me these past months. My world would be cold and lonely if you weren't in it.
I will love you always.

I am who I am...... perhaps different than most, that's the way God made me, and for his purposes. Sounds like a judgment question.
And how would you know if someone is pretending?
Are you gifted or are you pretending?

I try to be more patient than I am because some people need more than others.
Some times it works.
But I have to vent so I write and study. and make fun of bad questions here. (Not Yours, this one is nice, I wonder how any people will admit they modify how they feel to make others comfortable)

I'm real. It's probably why I don't have many friends. I say what I think, and I can back up my convictions. I do my own thing, and I don't listen to what other people think I *should* do. I live my life.
