You got it right on the money there. Hell, "Days Of Thunder" was just "Top Gun" in a different vehicle. Maybe someday they will get it right. Unfortunately I will still be shelling out cash to see all of em with the hopes that they may finally have gotten it.

Hollywood attempts to glamorize the sport. It does not matter which movie about racing is put out the way the movie world attempts to show it the way Hollywood wants to show it.Examples of the fiction are"Stroker Ace,SIX Pack,Fireball 500" all these make the driver a super hero. You can include "Speedway" with Elvis where the driver is the super lover. All of these are Hollywood.
The closest to a good movie about racing was "greased Lightening" But at latst the Hollywood genius made it a "fictitious"biography of Wendell Scott.
So bottom line Hollywood is after the money and not the truth in racing. The only bright spot for Hollywood racing movies was the IMAX NASCAR movie.

A movie is just a movie not a reality show or a documentary. I am just thrilled to have a movie about racing.
I can tell you are having a hard time with this when you are throwing in Talladega nights in as wasn't too bad. That's just plain weird on your part.
There are not enough racing movies out there be good or bad. Be thank full they are making a race movie every 3 or 4 years, and hope they don't try to make another Talladega nights.

You have to go back to way back in the day with Grand Prix, which remains the best of racing movies. Movie producers and script writers are forced to condense a year of drama on and off the track in 90 minutes, and you can't forget cars that fly like planes off the track. Racing just doesn't come across well as anything but the ultimate true reality series when there are actual races.

If you want realistic watch "Winning" with Paul Newman about the Indianapolis 500 or Grand Prix with James Garner

Because real life isn't as exciting. No matter what the movie is about (racing, basketball, football, or just normal life like dating, raising children, etc...) they have to glamorize it and make it interesting or it will flop. Race fans may prefer it to be more real, but the general public will not respond as much.

Everything you said is right on,as far as recent movies go.But there are two OLD movies that I just love.GRAND PRIX and LeMans.Sure they're old and a little corny, but if you like the GLORY DAYS OF RACING,both movies ROCK.
