find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

The truth is most people that publish a book just want to make money, so I'm going to tell you how to lose weight for real.
Have breakfast. Some low fat, low sugar cereal, whatever you like. I like Special K but when I get tired I have cheerios or oatmeal. Have also some fruit, as long as is fresh eat whatever you want.
You can have coffee too.
For lunch and dinner stick with fresh pan seared fish and grilled chicken with as much vegetables like broccoli and stir fry mixes as you can eat and salad. you can have low fat sugar free deserts like ice cream or jello or pudding.
drink lots of water and exercise. try running. the best way to start is by walking fast and then run at a slow pace, when you get tired walk again and so on until you manage to run even if it's real slow for 30 min or more.
one day a week, eat something you like even if it means breaking your diet. it'll help you continue your diet forever and keep your weight.
I am a size 8 however my neighbor was a size 26 and i have been training her and helping her with the diet and she's at size 16 now.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.
