If God will take away our sinful nature in heaven then how do we have free will anymore? If the very definition of free will is choosing between good and evil and I have no choice but to do good, then how can I be making a choice?

No, the definition of free will is NOT choosing between good and evil! You are applying philosophical principles to religious ones, and the definition must be modified when you change venues like this.

In the theological sense, it is the ability to have fellowship with God, and only His own have that. The Lord gives salvation to us, we don't take it. His own will thus enjoy him forever, and the reprobate will ALSO glorify God in their destruction.

Or, look at it this way. The only way we could lose our sinful nature is if we have the capability that Adam originally had before the Fall. Christ will have bought us with His death on the cross so that we have that full fellowship again. Right now we see through a glass darkly, we still sin, and struggle with that sin, but God still calls some to himself.

There will be no tree of knowledge of good & evil in Heaven. No devil to tempt us. We will simply enjoy God forever. The reprobate will not be there.

God calls us in spite of our sin nature. We all deserve to glorify Him by being destroyed in Hell, and yet He still has mercy and grace to pull some away from that. So no, we don't have free will now, and neither we will have a need for it in Heaven.

To be in obedience or not to be in obedience to God is a matter of choice (freewill).

Adam and Eve were told NOT to eat of the forbidden tree....God created them with a FREEWILL to obey...which they evidently DID for a while...but then CHOOSE not to continue in their obedience...and DISobeyed (sinned)

Every commandment issued to man presupposes their ability either to accept or reject it. Each warning in scripture assumes that human beings have the power to change. If we do NOT have FREEWILL...there is NO reason for commands or warnings, for we would not have the ability to obey or heed.

Scripture shows that Satan and some angels made the choice to rebell against God...and for doing so they were cast out from heaven. Had they not had freewill in heaven then they could not have rebelled.

We are not born with a sinful nature according to scriptures.

Mt 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

If babies are totally depraved then Jesus is teaching that one must become totally depraved & sinFUL to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Hmmm, is that LOGICAL??...nope

When we die and when the great judgement comes we will be judged BY the word of God (the scriptures)...John 12:48/Romans 2:16

Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, that EVERY IDLE WORD that man shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must ALL appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that EVERYONE may recieve the things done in his body, according to that he hath DONE, whether it be GOOD or BAD.

Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that OBEY him.

Therefore..those who refuse to be in obedience to HIM will not have eternal salvation.

Logically those going into heaven will be those who have made the choice to be in obedience to God...so logic also shows that because the choice was made to be good that the same choice would be made in heaven.

So basically it is WE who choose heaven or hell depending on our choice to be in obedience or disobedience while we are alive.

So, yeppers we still have a choice when we enter heaven but the choice of those entering heaven will be to be in obedience instead of disobedience like Satan and the angels that followed him.

:o)

When our Soul leaves our body we are then just a Spiritual Being
So with that our Earthly natures are left behind
So we will be the essence of pure love
So we will be what we are trying to achieve here on Earth
That is what we are all striving to be
Full of Love & Grace

dang! i've never heard that before! you're totally right though! but aren't all the people who got into heaven supposed to be the ones that always chose to do good anyway? maybe he's just relieving them of their sinful temptations and dictating their actions...i dont know

Now.............why would you want to do evil in heaven? once you're there, you won't need free will........you won't need anything. and your sinful nature must be taken away BEFORE you enter heaven.
