I'm putting an ad about my apartment on a craigslist to find new renter of my apartment and many people sent emails to get appointments to see my room. Today, A guy was going to come by to see my room at 5PM and but he didn't show up so I called him at 530PM and he said sorry and he wants to change it at 8PM then, he again cancelled at 8PM although said sorry many times.

I got upset because at least he could call me more before like 4PM or so. not like after 5PM or 8PM. I was wating for him since 5PM.

Do you get upset by this? I don't wanna be small mineded. What can I do with this feeling?

I would make an appointment with him at the same time that you have someone else coming to see the place. That will place additional pressure on the other renter and if this guy doesn't show up, not waste your time. You really don't need someone who is full of excuses as a tenant.

Consider the fact, if he cant keep a simple appointment, what makes you think he can pay the rent on time?
Unless he has some very good excuse for his behavior, don't rent to him. Just tell him it's rented.
As a warning let me tell you this. He could be trying to find out if someone else lives with you. Posting your number in the paper and inviting strangers over to look at your apartment can set you up for being raped or worse. Be careful, ask for references and do credit checks if possible. Use a hidden video or audio recorder when inviting strangers over to help document if the visit becomes your worst nightmare.

First of all you should't be having people come over to see your apartment when you are alone if you are a woman. The creep who called twice and didn't come doen not get a chance to see it now. Why would you want an unreliable renter? He also would forget to pay the rent on time!

You are not small minded. The person should have more respect and don't play you for a fool. I had people do it to me and it is very upsetting. I would suggest to stand firm as far as the time is concerned. People can't keep you on stand-by like that and you would be right to say so after the first excuse.
Good luck in finding someone decent.

I for one do not think you are small minded in the least....I mean c'mon you wasted away pretty much a whole day waiting around for a false lead...now guessing that it was not a traumatic event that made him miss it...this is unacceptable he is already proving to be unreliable...I use to be really lenient with people who would constantly do such things to me but I have learned that my time/opinion/life/plans/etc are important and should be respected....I respect other people!! You need to not second guess yourself on this...and just relax..no need stressing yourself over it...you will only begin to feel bad physically as well.

Don't worry, it is only natural to get upset - even angry - for anger is the *natural response* to injustice (when held in, anger becomes depression, since depression is anger turned inward).

The fool was only playing games with you - and if it makes you feel better, you have lots of company, since so many people are into that sort of thing, having nothing useful to do with their lives.

Why do you need to 'do' anything with it? It's a feeling. You can feel justified in feeling it or not, but either way you feel it. You're upset? Ok, be upset. As long as it's not interfering with your life, you don't have a problem.

Oh, and do NOT rent the apartment to this flake.

If the guy can't make an appointment on time do you really think he's going to come up with his half of the rent on time every month??????

It does create a very bad (unreliable person) first impression. I'd meet them and be open minded about them but would take that first impression into account too when making a decision.

Sometimes things come up, but to have someoone waiting for hours without at least calling is extremely rude
