The border will be secured. There is a long wait period. Applicants must have a job and no criminal records. It is not free.

I think you are right.

Most illegals are from you-know-where, and if this is a problem for the country, the gov should know what and how to deal with the problem by PREVENTING it. Securing the border and background check can be a good start.

yes it is. It's $52 buck a month to these people. Big deal, most have higher cable bills. They don't enforce the laws on the books today, what makes you think this will change anything. This is amnesty and is a kick in the head to all Americans who were born here or who had worked their whole lives to get here by working through the system. I will never support it with the way it is written today. Now if they said these this wave will never see citizenship and will never have the right to vote, then maybe I will reconsider my stance. Let this wave of illegals pay for their crimes, if they are truly interested in a better life they will give up their vote and the next generation of legals they produce will have their vote. I some how suspect that the democrats wouldn't be too hot on this idea.

No, vegas this is not a step in the right direction. It is amnesty. You are giving citizenship to people who broke our laws. You are rewarding criminal behavior and you are giving citizenship to any loser who could cross our border. Are we a nation of laws or not? The bill will not stop illegal immigration as the border fence will not be built across the entire border. The illegals will still be able to get in, and they know that if they wait long enough, Congress will give them citizenship!

We should be very selective in who we grant citizenship. We need educated, hard-working people and those with special skills. We do not need millions more of uneducated, third worlders, who cannot speak English, who refuse to assimilate, and who do not share our values. Anyone who votes for the Senate bill is a traitor to his country!

You can protest this amnesty bill by going to the Numbersusa Action Buffet corkboard every morning and afternoon until this is over. Send the faxes for free!. We'll be putting up new faxes every day. http://www.numbersusa.com/actionbuffet

MAKE A PHONE CALL TO YOUR TWO SENATORS AT: 202-224-3121 or, you can call your Congresspersons TOLL FREE by dialing

I don't think anyone beleived it would be feasible to mass deport, but it could be done a bit at a time. That's like saying we don't catch every person speeding everyday so we might as well just forget passing out tickets and let people drive like they want. Heck people are driving without licenses and insurance so why not just forget that too since it's only law abiding citizens who bother and no matter how you look at it, they're always the ones stuck paying and that's not fair while those breaking the law just sue people for every dime they have. Lets just make it demolition derby mentality....every man for themself on the road. They have been fighting this "war on drugs" since the beginning of time. Why bother anymore? People are going to do it anyway and there are some benefits so why keep paying to put people in jail? Heck lets just make it legal and those that fry their brains, fry their brains and those that don't, don't. I guess if enough of us just stop obeying laws and doing as we darn well please and just scream louder etc. they'll just forget completely about laws at all and we can all live FREE.....with nothing to crimp our style. Dog eat dog....last man standing wins.

Sorry......there's alot of laws I don't LIKE. There's alot of expenses I don't think are fair. But invading a country with no respect for our laws isn't something that deserves a pat on the back for.

We have had illegals with criminal records and they STILL take to the streets complaining and demanding when they were to be deported. Still wanting "understanding and compassion" or upset as to how it was handled because they didn't LIKE it. Do you honestly think that all of a sudden they are going to go by the rule of law when they've done this much damage with the "in your face", "we're not leaving" attitude? Even with this "compromise" dear Elvira and a host of other people would still have to GO. There's gonna be tons of families who's papa is going to be deported because once again he was caught driving drunk.....and we go through the whole darn thing all over again because as far as I know....none of those things were addressed in the bill at all. It's still going to come down to ENFORCEMENT and until this impotent government can prove to me our borders are secure and that they are enforcing our laws with no "special" considerations and that these illegals stop marching in the street everytime a law is enforced or every whim isn't catered to.......this bill is useless.

It reeks of amnesty. Regan did this in 86 with the pledge that with the new laws in place we will never need to do it again. We have good laws now that aren't being respected why should we think that they would respect and fallow this new one? In the end if it passes all that will happen is a tax increase for U.S. citizen to pay for teaching English to Mexicans.

No it's not.
Was it a step in the right direction last time amnesty was granted?

Was the border ever secured?
Were employers ever prosecuted for hiring illegal aliens?
Were illegal aliens ever denied housing and health care?

This should all be dealt with BEFORE any sort of "immigration reform" if that's what you want to call it is EVEN CONSIDERED.

From the sounds eminating from the shrill xenophobes, I would say they would prefer to maintain the caste system we have right now. Fear makes people very mean spirited.

Almost all of us were immigrants or are the progeny of immigrants. Should there be a total open door? No. But these people are here, they contribute to our society, they have lives and families.

I think this is the right step.
