We've got a regular sedan-type car right now, but we just found out we're expecting our third little one, and it's just not going to be big enough. We need to get either a van or SUV, but our credit is awful and we can't afford a bigger payment or a second payment. So what should we do? Is there any way to trade in our car (which we bought about 1 year ago and still have lots to pay on) and get a bigger one without having to pay waaaaay more? The only thing I can think of is to buy a used van from a private individual, but I'm kind of scared it won't be reliable, and it would probably still be more than we can afford.... Help!! :)
Thanks so much!!!!

I think your problem is much bigger than getting a bigger car (no pun intended). If you've got awful credit and cannot afford to spend any more money than you already are, then you are really going to be in a world of financial hurt when your third child comes along, regardless of whether you've got enough space for them in the car or not. I'm not sure what to tell you, except that I'd suggest you speak with a credit counselor and see if they can help you get your finances in order.

I don't buy new cars any more . As I had too many problems 3 in row .Best bet is to sell out right but you probably owe more than now worth . If you trade on older low mileage car/van (cheapest /most common ride is a mini van ) you might work out your problems. Yes you will probably lose some money but if you get rid of the sedan and have lower/same payment and decent ride you are ahead.Avoid the suv you will have gas payments to . I Get cars at 50000 miles and have good luck .

I bought a used Suburban from www.GSA.com. (Government Sales Auction) Scary buying a vehicle sight unseen but it turned out to be a good deal.
