Sorry, global warming is a fact. Haven't you heard of Al Gore? He used to be the Vice President... Of all of the hottest summers on record, the hottest have been in the past few years. You didn't state where in the world you live, but there are snow-capped mountains year around in California, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and several others. Also, one single fact does not disprove a theory such as global warming. You need to consider all of the evidence, such as the melting of the glaciers (Grasshopper Glacier in Montana, on the way to Yellowstone National Park for one), the fact that plants can be grown further north than ever before, the fact that many animal species have moved further north or higher in the mountains than before, the fact that many rivers/streams have dried up (just in my life time) that the Sahara desert is spreading (it used to support forests and streams), Easter Island has no trees (it used to have jungles), the fact that the oceans are rising...Well, you get the idea. There is no question about global warming; the question is, how much is the result of mankind and what can he do about it? Before it's too late?

This is more of a forum than an answer booth so I'll throw my unwanted two cents in (whether you love it or not). I don't know if global warming is a farce or not. But I know that as stubborn as our civilization is, we're not going to die from it if it does strike. Granted if the hypothetical is true, than yes, there will be more heat strokes, we'll all be a little less comfortable, and we'll need stronger sun tan lotion. Oh and those ice bergs people are worried will melt and flood our cities, don't worry, we'll actually need to move all water based facilities further out to sea. You see, further away from 4 degrees Celsius water is, the more volume it takes. That's why Ice floats. And while that tip of the ice berg is above water, we use it in a saying for a reason. So when a really large ice cube melts, it lowers the amount of volume occupied, thus lowering the surrounding waters. So no we won't die, water will get more expensive due to the heat and the lack of operable desalinization plants (until we build new ones).

I'll come to your place if you come to mine - we've just had the hottest January on record, one of the hottest Febrary's, the hottest March and the hottest April.
By the way - it's called global warming because it's global, not restricted to your town.
It's windy here at the moment so following your logic it must be windy across the entire planet and it proves that it can never be anything but windy - everywhere - forever.
Why do global warming skeptics pipe up the minute it gets cold then go strangely quiet when it warms up again? A few weeks ago this forum was full of people 'proving' global warming didn't exist because it was snowing where they are. In many of the same places it's now very hot so why aren't they claiming this proves global warming.

first, the overall temperature of the planet IS warmer now than in the past, that can not be disputed, the debate is wether it is anthropogenic (man caused) or just a natural cycle. No one ever said that global warming will make it warmer every day of the year in every location, of course there will still be cold days, and global warming does not entitle a consistant warming, insted it will cause great fluctuations in the temperature, as it completly readjusts or planet's climate system, until this system has reached an equilibrium there will be random cold days.
P.S. I am not convinced that global warming is anthropogenic, nor am I convinsed that it is a natrual cycle, I see to much evidence for it being anthropogenic to completly rule it out, but not enough evidence to completly agree with it.

you need to read up a bit more on these "PEOPLE" considering almost all of us are those "PEOPLE" .
okay global warming does not mean that at this period in time that it will be warmer than usual in New York, or Dallas, or wherever, but it does mean that in the poles, you know where all the iceburgs live? well it is getting warmer there, and they are melting. "How does this affect me?" you say...well as you know there are a few reasons it will affect you, well maybe not you, but generalized "you". One thing have you heard of the chain? well as the waters get warmer, more and more animals are going away, once an animal or plant is extinct, it changes the way of the world. (just in case you believe in dinasaurs, just look at that time frame, see the changes, and how drastic they were?). Global warming does not mean that it will destroy the world in mere days or weeks or even years, but hundreds and thousands of years, when your grandkids, and their kids run around. True it may not adversly affect you now, but it will affect your family in the future, you can bet on it.
And when it does, the acid levels in the ocean are all the way up, making sea life inedible, the plant life will have gone away because we squandered off fresh water, so not a lot of food there. And well land based meat, I shudder to see what will happen to them. (have you not noticed an increase of genetic mutations in the news lately? i.e. two nosed calves, 4 legged duckes, etc.) So instead of wasting time bahsing those who know global warming to be true, take time and educate yourself. its really not that hard.

Are you really naive enough to believe that global warming only affects summer, or hot weather? Extra warming in the atmosphere means that more water is picked up, more wind is generated, and more cold weather can occur because of denser cloud cover. Weather is far more complex than whether it's a little warmer or cooler in one tiny spot.
You can't REALLY be so gullible as to believe that it's all about the temperature you feel, and to simply parrot the conservative lines you hear.
Can you?

Good point.
I don't personally believe in Global Warming because after doing some research, I found that temperatures on earth in the Medieval Times were 2-3 degrees warmer than they are today....And further research revealed that we came out of a mini ice age at the beginning of the 20th century...Plus, the sun does cause Global Warming because the radiation varies from century to century...How come no one tells us this stuff??

do you think Global warming means only hot weather ,Climate change is a better discription ,
In Mexico earlier this year people froze to death in Chiapas ,which was related to global warming
And who is scared
A friend told me yesterday ,my god how scary the end of Humanity is coming ,
I hope that i live long enough to be around for that ,
should be a hell of a party ,and like they used to tell me ,May you live in interesting times .
And nobody can doubt that ,that is where we are ,and we are all in the same boat ,that is not scary ,its fascinating

actually global warming is going to cause a new ice age. as the air gets warmer, the ice caps will melt, causing the oceans to get deeper. the more water surface there is, the more light and heat that will be reflected back into space, significantly lowering the temp. a common misconception is that global warming literally means it will get warmer. really its the opposite, because it simply means that the icecaps will melt.
