!!!! GUN TYPE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH IT HURTS!!!!
When a gun is set @ 280 FPS and another is set @ the same FPS, it will be the same. The reason ppl think that gun type has anything to do with how bad it hurts is that a cheap gun will not have a consistent FPS rating.

And it doesn't really hurt. If your scared then wear thick clothes with really loose ones over it. That way when you do get hit, the ball with lose some of its speed, then the thick clothes take over.

It depends on the psi of the gun, some guns can leave really bad welts that won't heal for a few days. Others will leave small bruises. It also depends on the type of clothing you wear too. If you're unsure about it try asking the paint ball range what psi limits they're enforcing. Most reputable places will limit the psi of the guns especially if it's an open event. Sometimes you get jerks who come in and freeze their paintballs, those hurt really bad and you'll know the difference between the two.

Agreed with the dude above. Markers all "hurt" the same. When I was 15 I had a autococker and every kid at the field each weekend was like "look at that gun, those cockers hit real hard." It really ticked me off because I always ran around 270-275fps. The only exception could be how the ball hits you such as an armson stealth rifled barrel or tippmann flatline putting a different spin on it.

Some don't hurt much at all, but some air guns have more power than others. I've even heard nasty rumors that some people freeze their paint balls for a little extra zap. I've been hit and never gotten a bruise.

I paintball in shorts and a tank top. No it stings for a few seconds. The next day you show every one where you got shot. If you get hit from point blank range yes it hurts so bad. It mad be bleed once from point blank range.

It stings for a few seconds, but it's not so bad. A hit will leave a small bruise the size of a quarter on your body though.

I inform you what... have a chum force a golfing ball into your crotch... then imagine about one hundred cases less than that... which could furnish you with slightly theory about it. in simple terms placed on some padding less than your clothing, it shouldn't damage too undesirable.
