The chord is exactly like a D chord, except you don't press down on the 3rd fret of the fifth string... you press it on the 1st fret instead.

So, you're middle finger is on the fourth string 2nd fret. You're ring finger is on the sixth string 2nd fret. And you're index finger is on the fifth string 1st fret.

As for your problem. I and many other people have been in your position, but the solution is quite simple.

1) Investigate and learn guitar chords. When you have learned a few then play around with them as much as you can.
A great site for investigating chords is http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/

P.S: If you ever get stuck with a hard chord... practice, practice, practice.

2) Another tip I could give you is to learn the dominant 5 chords and barre chords.

DOMINANT 5 CHORDS

A dominant 5 chord is, for example:

X------------------------------------------------------------------
X------------------------------------------------------------------
X----------------OR---------------OR--------------------------
X----------3----------------2-------------------9----------------
X----------3----------------2-------------------9----------------
X----1-----------------0--------------------7--------------------

F5 E5 B5

It can also be based on the second string....

X------------------------------------------------------------------
X------------------------------------------------------------------
X----------3-----OR-------2-----OR-----------9--------------
X----------3-----------------2--------------------9-------------
X----1------------------0--------------------7------------------
X------------------------------------------------------------------

A#5 A5 E5

These are only examples, the same structure of chord can replicated ANYWHERE among the second and first strings.

BARRE CHORDS

Barre chords are the same principle, you can move them anywhere along the string. However, barre chords can be ALOT harder as they require alot of strength in the index finger. As the index finger is pressed hard in order to "barre" the fret above the chord... you'll see what I mean....

The first set of barre chords are based off an E chord:

X----1-----------------0--------------------7----------------------
X----1-----------------0--------------------7---------------------
X-------2------OR-------1----OR-----------8-------------
X----------3-----------------2--------------------9-------------
X----------3-----------------2--------------------9---------
X----1-----------------0--------------------7-------------------

F E* B

*This just your typical E chord

The second set of barre chords are based off an A chord:

X----1-----------------0--------------------7---------
X----------3----------------2---------------------9---
X----------3--OR----------2----OR------------9---
X----------3-----------------2--------------------9---
X----1-----------------0--------------------7---------
X----1-----------------0--------------------7---------

A# A* E

*This just your typical A chord

3) Now, after a couple of weeks just playing chords... you might be getting bored....

Especially if you want to learn tricky solos and become a guitar maestro you may want to listen to this next part...

Learn some scales....

Scales allow you to move up and down the fret-board with ease. You should keep practicing them all the time!

Here is another great link from the same website as before http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php?qqq=FULL&scch=A&scchnam=Pentatonic+Blues&get2=Get

4) Finally, play around with making your own compositions from what you know!!! Or learning other people's music for inspiration!!!

Thankyou for reading... if you got this far... and I hope you the best of luck with your guitar!

you add the 7th note of the D major scale to the chord.
pointer finger on B string, first fret. middle finger on G string, 2nd fret. Ring finger on E string, 2nd fret.
