Cats are very sensitive to smells. If you changed from unscented to scented liter--your cat may protest and leave little gifts in other locations.

It coule be the type of litter that you're using, or even where the litter box is placed. I recommend that you try another type of litter (if you're using clumping litter, try something different like Yesterday's News, a paper-based litter), or that you put more litterboxes around your box. If the problem is still not resolved, you may want to bring your cat to the vet to see if your cat has a health problem. Sometimes chronically constipated cats will strain and find themselves pooping outside of the box, in their effort to produce a stool. This actually happens quite often because cats tend to drink small amounts of water in relation to the amount of food they eat. Hope this helps.

In my experience my cat simply backs up to the edge of the litter box and then poops and it falls on the floor. I bought a covered litter box with a litter tracker mat.....It worked. Be warned though not all cats like the doors, I had to remove the door off my covered litter box he refused to go in it until I did.Good luck.

You are talking as though you have multiple cats, if you do how many litter pans do you have? You should have at least 1 box for every 2 cats.

They do that because if you don't put the turds in the box then they know that the litter box is the bathroom just that they don't know that they need to go inside the box.

i don't know why your cat is not using the litter box, unless it has been used too many times between changing the litter.

The box is dirty. My cats let me know its time to clean it, by pooping outside the box. You probably need to scoop.

they're not happy. You may have to clean out the box everytime they go. Cats are very fastidious about cleanliness and many will not use a box that has feces in it.
