If you are considering suicide because you are consuming too many of the Earth's resources -- yes, that is being too politically correct and it's time to seek professional help.
Re part two: IMO -- always be respectful. But always stand by what you believe is right and be prepared to argue your point.

I always felt that 'politically correct' was an idea that has always had negative associations. The whole idea of confusing alternate wording, with Orwellian overtones.
I do try to be polite, and, to a reasonable extent, tolerant. Politically correct though? Eh, not so much. So yea, definately, unless it is some kind of satire. It would have to be funny.

Very definitely. I do not feel I should have to defer to people who walk around with a chip on their shoulder and find fault in everything other's say and do.
I once heard a speaker talk about rish people being miserly and not contributing to worthy causes - he said this was "niggardly." That's a perfectly proper word and that's how he used it (look it up - it has nothing to do with the utterly duisgusting n-word.) Golly, he was practically flayed alive - even when he explained what the word meant they still wanted blood.
The comment on "Baa baa black sheep" is also amazing.
Does this mean they will have to change the name from "**** & Span" to something else?
Moral: If you WANT to be offended, you can always find some excuse to be offended.

Yes, it's got out of hand. Just like the advertisement for a 'Bar person - must look good in women's clothes.'
I object to having to say to someone who is not being direct, 'Call a garden implement for digging a garden implement for digging' because somewhere along the line the word for a garden implement for digging was used as a word for someone who's skin was darker than theirs.
