Okay I've been trying to get rid of my split ends, using varieties of shampoos and conditioners and cutting the split ends off but theres no difference than before, recently I found out that your hair is most vulnerable when its wet and you shouldn't brush it until its dry, I brush my hair tons when its wet should I stop it and if I do will they start to fade away as I cut them away?

The SPLIT END CURE
1] trim off all split ends. Get new trim every two months, minimum
2] washing - lather hair with shampoo for your hair type - do not pile hair on head, and do not scrub any harder than you brush your teeth - rinse thoroughly.
3] use conditioner for your hair type, and run it thru your hair- do not apply conditioner to scalp - the skin and your new hair don't need conditioner - rinse throughly.
4] blot hair dry with towel, don't rub. WET hair is FRAGILE!
5] de-tangle wth wide tooth comb. Have you ever seen a hairdresser use a brush on wet hair?
6] avoid dryers and curlers/straighteners when possible
7] use a deep conditioner once a week [ again, for your hair type ]
8] drink lots of water - about 1/2 gallon a day
9] eat well - lean protein, lean dairy, whole grains, lots of fruits and vegetables. Avoid fried, fast, and junk food - even diet junk food.
10] take a multivitamin with minerals every day
Soon you'll have beautiful healthy hair!

Take it from me. I recently cut 10 1/2 inches of for locks of love, just a couple spilt ends in the bunch. It was cut in November and I might have a few here and there but you really have to look. There are many keys to healthy hair. Moisturizing shampoos I find only make my scalp greasier faster. When you do condition don't necessarily try and "rub" the conditioner in, it may be hurting you hair. Gently massage it for a sec and leave it in. I usually condition then wash my body, shave then rinse it out. Also, yes, your hair is at it's weakest point when it's wet. I do brush when it is wet but there are tricks. Start from the bottom up, It may seem like a pain but you'll get used to it. If you feel a knot, work it out from the bottom. Do this also when it's dry. Refrain from brushing your hair too much. I brush my hair once a day. I think they used to want you to brush it a grip back in the old days (a thousand strokes) for dirty reasons, it's not that necessary anymore. Showers are a lot more plentiful. Keep away from hair-pulling hair ties and rubber bands.

Okay, first of all, yes, brushing your hair while it's wet can cause split ends. Instead, blow dry your hair and then brush it.

Next, getting your hair trimmed twice every six months can reduce the appearance of split ends, so that would be four times a year.

Also, to get rid of all of that breakage, I would recommend a hot oil treatment. They have them at local drug stores. The best one that I've used is Sally Hansen's Hot Oil treatment. It runs for about 5 dollars for 2 small bottles. What you do is place the bottle in HOT water and leave it in there for 2 minutes. While your hair is wet, you open the bottle and pour it on your hair, concentrating on the ends. You leave the oil in for 2 minutes and then wash it out like you normally do. If you don't recognize any change, use the second bottle as well.

I would also recommend using a very strong conditioner. Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine works wonders, as well as any kind of Aussie conditioner (or shampoo).

The only thing you should use on your wet hair is a WIDE tooth comb. After you have combed it out there is no need to brush it afterwards. I'm sure stopping the brushing while your hair is wet will help tremendously.

many things cause split ends, curling irons, blow dryers, any kind of chemical treatments, even wind can cause them, it would be hard not to brush your hair until it was dry , because then it would end up frizzy because it dried all kinked up in snarls. The only way I know to keep split ends to a minimum is frequent trims.
