I live in Vermont. I carry when out Trout fishing. As long as you don't have a criminal record and are lawfully able to own a gun you can carry a loaded defense weapon. Even canceled. It is smart to tell a cop that you are car ring if you are pulled over for a traffic violation. You are not lawfully aload to enter a federal building or school, though. Vermont has very little crime and most of it is from Mass. transplants. The state that has strict gun laws. Sorry Mass. people.

Vermont also has one of the lowest population densities in the country. That's the primary reason crime is so low here. And in response to the long comment by a previous poster -- Vermont *did* have a school shooting, just last year in Essex. A man was hunting down his girlfriend (who worked at the school) and first killed her mother at her mother's home, then went to the school and shot two teachers there, killing one. He's on trial now. There was no outcry for armed guards or anything like that because I think most Vermonters realize that this was a wildly isolated incident. If you'd had an armed guard at the school (which would have been a long shot, since it wasn't a regular school day), he probably would have just been the first victim. Doug

I kinda support this. I do think conceal carry is good, and most people who own firearms are law abiding. A good number of states with the permits require a background check and a shooting test of sort. The background check is a bit redundant for those who bought their gun at a gun store.
However, I do have concerns over the shooting ability. I have seen people that can't shoot worth beans, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere near them if they had to use their gun in self defense. Other than that I think its ok. Plus its great to hear about that crime rate, I am out of the Madison area in Wisconsin and crime keeps going up and we don't have conceal carry thanks to Jim Doyle. :(

Fine with me!

Vermont will even honor a CT carry permit. The problem is getting through the commie hell-hole of mASSachusetts.

The people of Vermont believe in freedom and the US Constitution that says we have that right. Evidently freedom loving people who are allowed to defend themselves are less likely to be criminals, and the rest of America should learn the lesson and honor our constitutional right to keep and beararms.

Pretty ironic that a state as liberal as Vermont has very Conservative gun laws.

It's like that here in Alaska as well. We also have very low crime and homicide rates. If only more states caught on to this idea.
