This guy is the smartest IDIOT I've ever seen. So "well traveled" and STILL didn't learn anything about yourself and your country? That, my friend, is truly sad.

I didn't only join the military for the college money, as I am STILL in after 15 years, but now I have that in my future bag of tricks, too. I have a 136 IQ, so intelligence, or lack thereof, isn't the issue. I majored in Theoretical Physics and have learned on my own through MANY experiences the ways of foreign politics, and now domestic politics. The money is nice, I certain do well for myself and my family, but that wasn't why I did it and continue to do it.

I do it for the honor, something you apparently lack, and for the adventure, but mostly, I do it for my fellow Americans, even the incredibly stupid and/or selfish ones.

You're welcome.

Given the content in your profile, I'd say it's more likely that you've given up on yourself and on the human race... a pretty sad existence. Insulting the military, however, isn't really a good idea. You see, current and former military members have this funny thing where they don't like to be insulted or called stupid in general... it has an unfortunate tendency to piss them off, you see. But if you really believe that everyone in the military must be idiotic to have joined up, like John Kerry so infamously does, perhaps you'd like to try getting into an intellectual debate with a graduate from a military college about just how stupid and lazy they are; or perhaps you'd like to contest the doctorates that generals have to have even to be considered for that rank in the first place, to say nothing about years and years of experience and sacrifice. No? Too intimidating? Okay, then just go to any bar near an Army or Marine post on a Friday night, down some liquid courage, and loudly proclaim your arrogance and utter disdain for everyone in the military. See what happens. Aren't experiments fun??

fairly i do not care. i'm no longer declaring that to be advise... I basically fairly do not care. I do agree that a 17 year previous will be bodily experienced to carry a rifle and could be experienced to do clerical artwork (which various squaddies do... actual very few see strive against).... and that i do not see the version between a 17 yo and a 20 yo. I do basically not imagine that various them imagine adequate about the commercial device or foriegn coverage.... in the adventure that they were given the vote i'd be comfortable with it yet when it keeps how that's then I gained't lose any sleep... maximum of them gained't even sign up to vote besides like maximum 18-25 year olds.

Sorry but i think you are the dumb one.....oops, no 10 points for me i guess :-(
The armed forces are a great career choice. Good money, great benefits, working with like minded people and the opportunity of advancement.
Admittedly, you may be killed in combat but if you have learnt well during your training and have a good commander then the chances are pretty slim. On the plus side, you get the chance to kill someone and not go to jail for it. Beats shooting Deer.

You're evidently completely against the military - go somewhere else and look for a 'pity party'!!!
When young people join the military - they join with the hopes of fighting for their country; not military or jail!!!!!!!!!! Going to jail is giving up on yourself! Joining the military is a life of honor and fighting for your beliefs!
Me personally, I'm glad there are those who are willing to give their life so I can sleep peaceful at night!!!

Your way of thinking is way off-course. What in the world would make a person think joining the Military is beneath them?

In this case you may want to count your "BLESSINGS", if you feel these Soldiers joined because they have given-up on themself is selfish. They are protecting your lazy mind!
There is nothing more "HONORABLE" THAN SERVING YOUR COUNTRY!!.

I know many of Americans do not agree with the war in Iraq. These Soldiers have made many, many, many
sacrifices to do a job you feel is beneath you. When they initiative the DRAFT again (anytime now) that you are the first one that has to go!
Oh' By the way, SACRIFICES mean, to give-up something, to forfeit! Think about it!!!

Last I heard, the military is a worthy career. A person gets the opportunity to serve his country as well as serve himself. It's a secure win-win situation.

Do you always make yourself look as stupid as you just have?
You must not be man enough to be in the U.S. Military to try putting down the BEST in the world (which you just failed miserably doing).
A typical know nothing civilian talking through his hind parts!

Given up on myself? geeeesh, and to think, after all these years of service I was dumb after all! Who knew?
Lets see, what have I gained after almost 27 years of SERVICE.......
My home is paid for,
My 2nd home on the water here on the coast is ALMOST paid for......
My boat is paid for....
my vehicles are paid for, and the oldest is 4 years old......
I've put 2 kids thru college, 1 works in the pharmaceutical field, the other is a newly commissioned USMC officer in flight school......
and the final thing, Uncle Sam is now paying for me to complete my law degree!
So I should have maybe "given" up on myself all those years ago? Maybe be a waste of breathable air like you?
YOU are such a pathetic loser!

Heck no! I think there are people of all intellects and stations in life in the military. I think they are amazing! Only morons like John Kerry would think that those in the military are dumb and have given up on themselves. He said this, “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
