My hair is getting a little oily today and I planned on dying it. Does the dye still hold well on oily hair?

Don't worry about your hair being a little oily - so long as you don't have styling product on it.

The oil will help protect your scalp.

Tip: run a bit of Vaseline along your hairline & behind your ears to protect your skin from the hair dye.

It will not hold well. Try to wash your hair wit body soap so it wont be oily and I guaranty you it will hold your dye well. Then u let you hair oily the way you want it after dying.

actaully my mom is a hair stylist and she says that its better if your hair is oily becaus ethe colour has more to grab onto- becaus eif you dye it right after you wash it strips the colour out more because of the chemicals in the shampoo and conditioner- so you are good to go. when i get my hair colored i dont wash my hair for like 2 or 3 days and it really makes a differance-- hope it turns out great

hair dye works well with unwashed hair but if you are unsure call the clairol coustomer help line and they will be able to help you further you will find their number on the product box

no problem because if it was fesh washed hair it will dry out big time. I know been there done that. I always make sure it has been a day or 2 before I color it now

I think dye actually works better when the hair is a little bit dirty

The reason we do color on slightly dirty hair is because freshly washed hair has residual oils from the shampoo that repel color and cause an uneven result, not only this, it is healthier for your hair to do it on slightly dirty hair.

vidal sassoon always washes your hair before they color it. i say wash it and then color it. also it might give you a hint in the instructions that come with the dye.
