He crashed before he even got the green flag on his speed up lap in qualifying. Now, once again, back of the pack in a backup car.

What is wrong with this guy. I know he has like zero confidence right now, but with as much money as Toyota has invested in him, you would think that at least he could qualify for a race in a decent position(or qualify at all) This is a past Daytona 500 winner we are talking about here.

I'm definitely no Waltrip fan, but this dude needs to get in the mix....and soon. He's an accident waiting for some place to happen.

I thought that where Michael was, he could go no lower, that sure was wrong.

Go Jr.

It's a shame for MW. But at least he'll have a chance to race for a change. I don't agree w/ other posters that MW is having problems w/ drugs or alcohol (that's a slam) and I don't agree w/ Toyota being junk. Just look at the trucks. But I agree with you about his confidence being zero. Even with Toyota's money, you've got to put together a good set of people to build and work on the cars. Apparently this has not happened!

Jeez people, cut him some slack. It's a first year team (all 3 of them) and a brand new manufacturer. All new crew members and shop people with no notes or info to fall back on. Yes, he's struggling a bit, but Nascar's top 35 rule sure as heck isn't helping him out either. Spouting off about drugs and alcohol is just plain ignorant. Nascar is pretty damn straight about it's no drug policy. Ask Shane Hmiel about that one. It is really odd to wreck before getting going. That's embarrassing. Love to know what happened there.

I just don't think he is that great of A driver. The only reason he won the 500 was because he was in A DEI car when they ruled restricter plate races. Now stepmom is incharge and things suck., Just like toyota and michael. If his brother wasn't so popular he wouldn't even have a ride.

Michael seems to be having a bad season. Any new team that starts out always has a rough start. Michael hasnt started in that many races this season and Im wondering where he is getting the money to enter these races. It costs money to enter races, gas, tires and staff. Wonder how long MWR will be around.

DRUGS OR ALOCHOL i worked for the Waltrip brothers for a season in 2004 and those two are the most straight forward individuals in my mind, i put alot of time and effort in to that company and if it was up to me i would still be working for them today.

Have those Toyotas even won a race yet? What kind of junk are those things? NASCAR might want to pass a rule against Toyotas because they are crash hazards.

I'm as diehard MW fan as they come, & i respect everyone's take on what's going on. But the way I see it, he needs to retire & put somebody else in the #55. I think he, the team, the sponsors & his family life would be alot better off.

Go #55, #00 & #44

Yup. And did you notice that when he crashed, the fans were cheering??? For the few people that were in the stands, it was almost as loud as when Gordon crashes. As far as I'm concerned, it couldn't have happened to a better guy.

He's trying to go with a new team and car, just give him time to get all the bugs are worked out and he'll hit the ground running. He's to go a driver to stay down to long.

Michael Waltrip has a problem, most likely drugs and alcohol.
I hope he gets himself straightened out before he kills himself or someone else.
