Okay, I know it's probably a stupid question, but my son is allergic to shellfish, and I'd rather know for sure.

Why would you? Keep the steak in one marinade dish and the shellfish in the other. They really require separate marinades, and even if you decide to use the same, you really don't want the falvors to mingle.

NO, my daughter is allergic to alot of things. she turned purple when she got a hold to something that was meshed together. just that little bit had us up all night with breathing treatments and a trip to the ER.

I wouldn't do it, it would depend on the severity of the allergy, but nothing destroys a dinner party like respiratory arrest. I hope that you keep an epi pen for just such emergencies, if not ask your medical provider, we prescribe them like candy.

There will be cross contamination. If he is allergic please don't marinate the two together. very bad idea. It could cause him to get ill. I would just do it seperatley and not take the risk.

That's called cross contamination, and not a good idea. especially if someone is allergic.
