Seems a vast majority of people here agree that amnesty is NOT what Americans want. If you feel strongly--like I do--have you emailed your reps and the White House stating your strong opposition? I have. Aren't we still, WE THE PEOPLE --you know, the public whom they are SUPPOSE TO REPRESENT? To my surprise Steve Kagen (D, WI) is in absolute harmony with my position--or so he says. We will see how he votes.

SANTA FE, N.M. -- The Santa Fe Police Department is having trouble filling police jobs, so it is looking into the possibility of recruiting Mexican nationals.

Sergeants Gillian Alessio and Marvin Paulk are in charge of the department's recruiting and training.

They said on Tuesday that they're trying to think of alternative methods of filling 20 vacancies on the city's 155-person police force.

But Santa Fe Police Chief Eric Johnson said New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy regulations prohibit non-citizens from serving as police officers.

Alessio said the Santa Fe police force, like others around the country, is vying to recruit the same 21- to 30-year-olds as the U.S. military.

Alessio said the national need for military recruits is taking a toll on the police department.

the Dims like amnesty because that will give them about 20 million more Dims voters, and too many Republicans have deserted Bush for non issues, so he has no motive to cater to them over this issue

There is another issue they should agree on which is to have a more energy-efficient economy.

The first ones lack of understanding for market tools
The second ones lack of long term outlooks in an international perspective

Good luck

I have emailed my state senator, Mel Martinez. He has done a complete flip-flop from his position a few years ago, when I voted for him. Disgusting yellow-bellied flip-flopper!
