No it doesn't, it's a myth. The absinthe plant, arthemisia absintium does have a mollecule, thujone, that besides being toxic might be hallucinogenic, but you would have to ingest an ennourmous ammount of the mollecule alone and you would die first from it's toxicity before you saw any pink elephants...
Besides, in the distillation process that all real absinthes must suffer, the thujone is reduced to levels where you barely can detect it. Moreover, in surviving XIX century absinthe bottles tested the thujone was also in very low concentrations, harmless and efectless.
This myth about it's hallucinogenic effects is being perpetuated by cheap "absinthe" producers, mainly in the Czchec Republic who sell very low quality grain alcohol (when absinthe must be made with grape alcohol) artificially coloured green and flavoured with sugar for hundreds of dollars mainly to americans, since the US is now the only country in the world where absinthe is forbidden, on the false pretense it has "effects"...

If your drug use is limited to marijuana and acid, then you're not going to be able to answer this question. 'Get high' is not synonymous with 'hallucinate'. Real absinthe has a kind of narcotic effect. Eating thujone by itself may not have the same effect. That's why scientists who don't include and analysis of variance with their study are wasting your time. I don't know about what somebody said about it in 1832 but I certainly know the difference between drinking ever kind of alcohol you've every heard of with lots of different kinds of drugs and the absinthe my friend brought from Europe was different. Does it get you high? Yes. But it will do it in a way you won't expect and it is pleasant.

The crud they sell now 'legally' in the states, by the way, is not the same, even through scientists came up with a conclusion that supported the study's funders. Shocking!

Absinthe containing wormwood is no longer legal in countries like the uk because it did cause people to hallucinate, but i believe you can still get it in eastern european countries. originally it was this that made you see things, and the high alcohol content just made you drunk. now i think it's just the alcohol, and it shouldnt have any mind altering effects other than those of any other spirits, it'll just happen a lot lot quicker!

Yes, but is more of a pshotropic affect, in other words meeses with how you see things all the way up to seeing things that are not there, however it is illegal in the US, it is made from something called wormwood and is very toxic, but you can order it from france and some other european countries like the netherlands just be realy careful about customes as it is very illegal and more than finiacial penilties will accure, your best bet is to go to one of those countries, in a controlled environment if you want to try it, in most cases you have to leave your keys, wallet, etc and they approve when your ready to leave.
