Exactly. It really is simple. If you think something is a sin, don't do it. End of problem.

Everyone bases their opinions upon something -- it may be a religion or it may be experience. For all of us, we have our own opinions and beliefs about anything. Many disagree with the ban against gay marriage because they suggest it is only based upon a religious belief. Take the war in Iraq for example, there are many people (both Christian and non-Christian) that are against the war. They believe it is unjust and we should be out of Iraq. Many are protesting and fighting for that exact thing to happen. The opinion may not be based upon a religion, but nonetheless, it is something that people that are fighting against the war want everyone to follow and agree with.
As far as applying rules to themselves, I do not agree with what you said. Divorce is allowed by God. Divorce has been here for quite sometime. What Jesus taught against was the men were divorcing women for no reason. There were no rights for women, no matter if they were married or not. What Christ was talking about in the teachings was a protection clause for women. You are right, I do not deny someone the right to believe as they choose. Everyone has the right to believe and practice as they choose. However, as a nation, we are given this ideal of "majority rules". Most people in this country disagree with gay marriage. Regardless of everything, if the majority disagrees with it, then someone will do everything to ban it in some way or another. Right or wrong -- that is how it is.

The idea behind Christianity is not to deny others the right to believe the way they choose. In the case of homosexuality and governing laws, it is more a question of what we are and aren't willing to support. If we say it isn't okay we truly should let our actions reflect our view in the form of legislation. Otherwise, our children and our children's children will not feel that we truly believed what we said we did.
This doesn't stop anyone from believing what they want, it would say that we don't agree with it and do not accept it as a morally good choice.
Paul, as do many Christians today, did what he thought was right in the face of government that disagreed. As Christians, we must submit ourselves to governing authorities, which cannot take away your choice. They can impose penalties for decisions, but the decision is yours. Paul never tried to get out of his punishment for the crime of being a Christian and willingly submitted himself to the law when he was put to death.
All that to say, we always have a choice. In this instance, it is more about the legacy we leave behind, as people, than it is about telling homosexuals they are wrong. We can do that without a law.

The Bible says that Christians aren't supposed to judge those outside the church (1 Corinthians 5:12, 13). Those inside the church who are immoral, greedy, thieves etc. are the ones to expel from the congregation and quit associating with. The ones outside the congregation are simply subject to secular law and that is for the governments to enforce as God's agent (Romans 13; 1 Timothy 1:8-11).

It's because "marriage" as an institution was established by religion in the first place, but that is also recognized as a civil union. It is secular organizations, however, that are trying to legalize "gay marriage", which technically doesn't exist. Marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman. You can, however, create a legal 'civil union' status for gays and just not call it marriage.
That's why I support gay "civil unions" (secular) versus marriage (religious).
My three cents.

yep you are kinda right, we are given free will, Gods gives us a choice to live morally, its also our choice to go to hell.
I personally dont care if two sodimites wanna get married, do whatever nasty thing you wanna do behind closed doors, we and our kids dont need to hear about it. Anyways this kind of marriage will never be blessed by God, or even acknowledged, so its really a joke. Marriage was ordained by God to be holy between a man and a woman, anything else is just an abomination! Pretty soon its gonna be a freak show, you will be seeing guys marrying sheep, and monkeys, and maybe even little kids, when do we draw a line?

Actually God does allow divorce. The issue of gay marriage is like people making counterfeit money. The institution is marriage itself and the family becomes marginalized with the sexual corruption so predominant in modern society

"If the claims of the Christian faith are true-and many people accept them as true- these people are no more intolerant for their belief than those people who accept Washington DC as the United States capital. They are either correct or mistaken about how God has revealed Himself in the world. If they are right, then there really is no other way to God but through Christ. If they are wrong, then Christianity is false. The question of tolerance isn't the issue: the question of truth is."

Read 1 Corinthians 6:9. Paul plainly states that homosexuals will not go to Heaven. As for the Bible saying we are not to interfere in other people's business, God says we are to follow the laws set by man as well as His laws. It's illegal to marry the same sex. It's illegal to commit sodomy. We are told not to judge others. If you are going to quote from the Bible, you need to read it first.

Because it is an insult to my God, and that is an insult to me. Also, God's Laws were meant for all humanity, not just Christians or Jews. That's the reason why our world is in such turmoil today - because so many people believe that God's perfect Law doesn't need to be followed.

Yes . . . they can believe what they wish . . . they can 'do' what they want . . .
But leave the word "marriage" alone. That word means one man, one woman . . . it has meant it for thousands of years.
Have a new word . . . (example: "unions" ) . . . whatever . . . but I do not think we should hide these "unions" with the word "marriage" . . . they are not the same.
If you can change the meaning of the word "marriage", then there is no stopping place . . . is the next step, three people? Two males, one female? Two females, one male? Three males? Three females? . . . it can move on to even more odd combinations . . .
