I have been exercising lately doing the Spartan workout and dieting but I was wondering if its ok to still drink soda just not as often? And is Gatorade/Powerade, energy drinks, and flavored water good for you?

Gatorade replenishes your energy and electrolyte imbalance that water can't. I would say that is good for you during exercise. Drinking less soda is also a good idea.

Having the occasional pop is fine, just don't make it every drink. I personally don't care for diet pops, aspertain has a horrible aftertaste. Energy drinks are usually high in caffine to give you that 'pick me up' feeling, so I wouldn't have too many of those. I think ones like Red Bull suggest no more then two a day, and I think that's pushing it. Gatorade/powerade are alright if you're doing a workout, but I wouldn't drink them all the time. Flavoured water isn't bad, but it isn't as good as plain water. But if you're going to drink water because it's flavoured go for it, at least you're getting the water into you.

Soda is alright, you can not cut out everything when dieting, as long as you limit yourself to 1 or 2 cans a day. energy drinks are high in caffene and some flavor waters have sugar in them. but gatorade and powerade is suppose but be healthy. truthfully what is your best bet...but you need a break from water every now and again.

Sneaking a soda will not hurt you, but why not just switch to diet soda? Gatorade and Powerade should be used in moderation...nothing beats good old fashioned water (or flavored) in restoring the body's hydration.

Maybe one or two sodas a week. Try your best to stick with pure water. No sports drinks. They are a waste of money.
