Cisco's CCNA is an entry-level course that you could explore and it would dove-tail nicely with your electronic qualifications. My suggestion is, if you haven't already got one, try to find a job within the telecommunication industry and tackle the CCNA while you're gaining hands-on experience. It's not a really easy course, but is highly respected in the networking sector.
