I have a 1 year old boxer that I found about 5 months ago. He was VERY thin. I took him to the vet about a week later for shots. He has had all of his shots, but I didn't have him dewormed. He has grown and gained weight since then, but you can still see his bones. He eats and drinks normal. His personality and activeness have not changed. Although, after eating and drinking he vomits. At night when we go to bed, he sleeps in my room and I can hear his stomach making really weird noises. I have checked his poop, but found nothing.

Dogs with worms rarely excrete them in their stool for us to visibly see them. Given the circumstances of your acquiring your dog, I would suggest taking a stool sample to your vet to have it checked for worms. If it comes back positive, they will give you a wormer that should solve the problem.
A checkup by your vet at this point should also be done, since the vomiting is not normal, & is not necessarily a symptom of worms.
Best of luck & good health to your pooch!

I don't do stool samples for worms anymore because they so often show up as negative for worms in a dog that really responds to a deworming. A stool sample may just happen to miss a worm that is still in the intestine.
If he is in the habit of eating grass, he will vomit a yellow frothy liquid Vomiting after eating his food is a likely symptom of worms--as is overly boney frame.
Given the circumstances and his age, I would take him to the vet rather than use a dewormer from a pet store. I would ask the vet to put him on Panacur dewormer as it kills hookworms, whipworms, and also roundworms. The only worm that it does not kill is tapeworm--and there is a separate dewormer from the vet for tapeworm that I would only use if the Panacur did not change things within a week.
Panacur is given for 3 days to kill all living worms. You will then give another 3 day treatment 3 weeks later in order to kill the newly hatched eggs. It is very easy on the dog and very effective.

you won't likely find anything in his stool..you need to take a stool sample in to the vet and have it tested for worms. The vet will dispense the appropriate dewormer for the type(s) of worms present. Also a good vet exam should be done to rule out other problems.

I have 2 seven year old boxer's and I have had them since they were babies. I also was a breeder for 3 years, and in my experience with boxer's they generally stay skinny until that reach about 2 years old. They are normally so hyper they run the weight off quickly! But boxer's are gasy animals, you can give them tums or gas-x to help with the tummy bubbles! Good luck with your boxer!

i would take your dog to the vets for weighing and get a wormer just as a precaution as they dont cost very much, then that would also ease your mind. also all dogs should be wormed every 6 months.

Yes i am sorry to say but i think your dog has worms... hopefully you can find a safe and affective treatment that won't harm him at his tender age. Just call the vet and they will handle everything
