There is really no correct scientific answer to that question. For some people it only takes one, for some a few cigarettes and others may never become addicted. The addiction of smoking is not only physiological but also physical. Most people can break the physiological addiction of nicotine in only 48 hours but the physical or habitual addiction of smoking can last a lifetime.

Generally, smoking begins as a social behaviour -- which means the new smoker is around other smokers who share in the habit and the high. As the new smoker continues, the nicotine takes root and the body will become more dependent upon it. So, the amount of cigarette-to-addiction ratio depends on the level of comfort the smoker has when they began.

I used to smoke, and I can tell you don't pick it up after one cigarette. The first thing is to make it a habit, then you need them.

It would probably take you up to a year to get to the point where you have to smoke!

I do not recommend you to do it.

There isnt really an answer. some people try one puff and hate it so they never smoke again, some try that first puff and like it so they keep smokeing and some people think that the first puff may be bad so lets try it more and see if we like it, and some wont even try one puff becasue they are affraid of getting addicted.

it depends on the person, it can take just one, some people are pregenetically disposed to have an addictive personality....all they need is a first time.

It depends on the person. Sometimes just one does it. I recommend not smoking at all so you won't have to worry about it. Save your money, save your life.
