I guess it depends on what you like. I hate sweet pickles so I would have to say genuine dill.

I use sweet pickle relish most of the time, but I have used dill pickles. I like it both ways.

I love it with dill pickles. Sometimes I put both dill and sweet pickles in!

It's a matter of taste. I like sweet pickles, you use whatever you like. Actually I take a short cut and use sweet pickle relish.

I put some of each in potato salad and use some juice from each jar to thin the dressing. Never have to worry about leftovers.
