Flush. The risk of waking them up is minimal--the sound is just not that loud or unfamiliar.
Do not "leave it." You might offend someone, and the people in the house would question your upbringing.

Flush and risk waking the hosts. They would soon go back to sleep even if the sound woke them in the first place, which I doubt.

Yes, you flush. My bedroom is near the guest bath, and flushing in the night is not a problem...HOWEVER, a door slamming IS annoying, so please open and close the doors gently!
(and if there is a prob with flushing, tell your host in the morning, don't let them find out smelly hours later and after someone else has tried to flush and ran it over!)

you flush. i don't think i have ever been woken up by the sound of a toilet flushing. unless their toilet is old and broken and does make a ridiculous amount of noise, but i'd still flush. they will fall back asleep. i'd be pretty upset if i woke up and found and unflushed toilet. i get angry now when i see an unflushes toilet.
when you flush, mist from the toilet rises 5 feet in the air. i do not want someone elses pee on me when i flush because they thought it would be rude to flush at night.

Flush, rather than leaving a possibly nasty and insulting surprise. We're all human here. How comfortable are you with your humanity? Unless they're really poncey which means you should make sure you get up just before everyone else to flush.

Kind of related, I heard the funniest thing EVER on Scott Mills a few years ago -
A woman went back to some blokes house one night and the next morning had a poo in his toilet but it wouldn't flush. She then decided to put the poo in a carrier bag and take it home so he wouldn't see it. She then went downstairs and wrote him a note saying sorry she had to go. She went out of the house (the door locking behind her) and then realised she had left the poo in the Tesco bag on the table behind her!
That makes me smile every time I think about it.
The answer is wee but flush and DEFINITELY DON'T POO!!

Flush of course, why wouldn't you? I doubt they will wake up from the toilet flushing. Leaving piss in the toilet I think would be more offensive and improper etiquette.
