The Moose, and heres why !
A black bear is a scared animal by nature. They run from fights and are not aggressive at all even if bothered. 99.9% of the time, you can scare them off before ever getting close to them !
A moose on the other hand is a kind creature which if bothered will do everything in its power to reneder you dead. A Bull Moose in rut is a dangerous animal and in this case the moose out weighs the bear both in weight and agression. Had you said any other type of bear, I would not have picked the moose, but in this case the black bear is more affraid of you than you might think. The moose is not !

The bear. A moose cant climb a tree and bears are faster. I've been 10 feet within a moose and it didn't do anything just looked and walked away. Thankfully, never been face to face with a bear but for some reason I don't think they would just walk away. They would probably rip your face off within seconds.

Moose are more apt to attack than a Black Bear. You can usually scare a Bear off but yelling at a Moose pisses him off.

for the most part you can stand your ground or just throw sticks at black bears, where I live they are common and not really dangerous unless you are a bonehead. moose on the other hand, rut or not if confronted in a spot they feel cornered will charge and try to trample you, they are as fast if not faster than a bear would be & way less predictable.
I'm way more afraid of moose than black or even grizzly bears....and the rule of thumb is grizzly=play dead, black bear=fight vigorously, blacks will eat dead animals, grizzlies preffer to take down their meals.

Black bears are pretty timid. Unless you're between a mother and her cub, they won't bother you. A bull moose is not usually dangerous either, unless it's the rut. If so, the moose is much more dangerous.

Are you kidding!? A moose of course! Whoever it was that said they can't climb a tree does not realize that a moose can knock down a tree!!! Not to mention that they are wayyyyyy more aggressive than a black bear.

super article. whether i'm frightened via fact i'm able to open carry, for the 2nd, I actual have not been careworn via all of us in the Angeles. I frequently continuously camp or hike with a team and surprisingly much continuously on the busy weekends. Crime and criminals like the particularly of the dark and no crowds. My ex does particularly some learn on people in the southern California national forests so i'm nicely responsive to the hazards in touch and the Rangers bear the brunt of the activity and yet they are being decreased in team. that's why, a minimum of one reason, that there is a push to improve the barren region classifications of extra woodland land. it is going to close roads and shrink get admission to to the criminal varieties. They continuously choose the straightforward way in for the quick physique drops. On a part word as quickly as I suggested I actual have the appropriate to open carry, there's a invoice at present in the past the state senate to get rid of that actual except you have a CWP. So in the experience that your no longer looking you will no longer be able to hold a gun in the woods from now on for self protection.

The moose is much more dangerous in the rut. If you play dead with a bear he will just leave. The moose will stomp on you until you are dead.

Both and it depends on which moose or black bear you cross paths with, and the situation and circumstances... Both are unpredictable and should be respected and assume both could be a threat...
