My Methodist Sunday school teacher mother gave it to me. I would not bother to buy one for myself, but it is an interesting part of my reference library.

My first bible was given to me by a church friend a long time ago when I was young. She's not living but I loved the bible. It is blue and it had like a dinner setting on the front cover. The bible was used as the main course in between a knife and fork. I have 2 other bibles two and i ordered it free off the internet. Oh yeah I have a forth one which talks in plane english give to me by an old pastor. So there you go, All 3 were free. I hardly pay for much.

When I was confirmed in the methodist church I was given the New International Version of the Bible. I was also given a children's bible when I was around five years old...and then I got one as a prize in Sunday School when I was around thirteen (those who came to Sunday school regularly got Bibles as sort of a bribe).
I've been given all the Bibles I own.

I have 4 or 5 Bibles, some where gifts, some on tape or DVD. I also rescue and repair Bibles that I find at a thrift shop or yard sale which later become gifts or donated to a proper place.
I treat the Bible with the honor it deserves.

The Bible that I have was given to me. I have bought Bibles in the past, and I've given many to others.

I have bought all my bibles except for the St Josephs edition which I think my wife brought with her when we married. Pretty sure her parents gave her that one. The bible that was given to me when I got baptised got a bit worn out and was falling apart. As did the bible my mother gave me. Twelve bibles in my home not counting the tanuchs and the chumash and the new testiments as they are not complete in and by themselves.

I bought a large print bible in King James for myself 'cause I'm getting older *smile*. I have a study bible, in NIV, that was given to me about 10 years ago by my mother and one of my sisters. I also have a bible that I bought that's here at work, also NIV. I like the NIV for studying, I can understand it much better than the King James.

Combination of both. My first was a King James given to me by my parents. But I have an NIV and an Amplified Bible translation that I have purchased for myself.
Read both translations from cover to cover on my own. The NIV is pretty marked up, and I am trying to avoid marking up my Amplified too much.

I know some people who went out and bought bibles, but those were ones with commentary in them, and these people were part of a bible study group.
I've been given all my bibles.
