Let's look at your question logically, shall we?

You ask "why do you think God punishes sodomy."

You must assume that whomever you mean by "you" thinks that God punishes sodomy.

Since we cannot tell whom you mean by "you" we cannot possibly address the rest of the question, as we cannot determine without knowing "who" is, what "you" might think about God or punishment or sodomy.

I'm not sure "punish" is a good term. All sin carries consequence...as does sodomy.

It is a sin because it is a perversion of the natural. God created man and woman and said "it is good." He sanctioned marriage and sex within marriage for the purpose of procreating.

God punished the city of Sodom because the people were arrogant, full of envy, inhospitable, greedy and joined in violent rapes of male and female citizens by both sexes. A lot of the citizens were probably engaged in bi-sexual relationships.

All of the above are not in the will of God.

Presuming there is a god, how do you know s/he does? Because it is in the Bible? In that case the Biblical god also punishes the eating of lobsters, crabs and prawns; sowing different crops alongside each other; wearing clothes made of different yarns and many many more abominations. Why pick on sodomy? Why not picket the seafood restaurants and warn them of hellfire for eating shrimp? Same deal.

The legitimate American English word to describe these people is sodomite. The term sodomite describes the nature of their crime and the sin they must repent from. Just like adulterer, rapist, and murderer are all proper terms for people who commit these crimes, each also describes their sin. Sodomite is the correct term for people who commit the crime of sodomy -- not homosexual or gay.

Noah Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language defines a sodomite as "one guilty of sodomy." Black's Law Dictionary defines a sodomite as "one who has been guilty of sodomy." The final authority on the subject -- the Word of God -- defines both the sinful and criminal acts and pronounces the method of punishment to be carried out (Lev. 20:13) by the civil officials "...upon him that doeth evil" (Rom. 13:4).

Because it is sick and amoral behavior. Since when is sex with a 3-year old toddler ever consensual? Since when do we turn our backs on that?

Sodom and Gomorrah got their comeuppance and so will the sodomizers when they go to jail. So also will the perverts in Vermont when justice fails the victim's families.

Sodom and Gomorrah is true. Guess the answerers above me don't get the History Channel.

You assume that the fairy tale about Sodom and Gomorrah is true: It is not! However, the story is a condemnation of idol worshippers, a greedy and inhospitable society.

The judgement of this region had nothing, absolutely nothing to do with homosexuality!

He doesn't. Man and religion does. 4000 years ago it was a health issue. Today it is a political issue.

I don't think he does. Because I don't believe in god. and because whatever sex acts two consensual people engage is has no bearing on their morals or their ability to be a good person.
