Wow! I totally agree with you. Every time Congress acts to protect the interests of Corporate America it is actively undermining the interests of American families. Isn't it time SOMEONE began to look out for the needs of working Americans. No wonder 60% of Americans who could vote, don't even bother. A vote for any candidate supported by either major party is obviously a vote for our oppressors.

Maybe because they do not blame something you call "corporate greed."
The socialist/communist rhetoric which is employed and implied by your question is one way to look at economic difficulties. There are others. For example a Libertarian would tell you that the waste is primarily in taxes and in bureaucratic regulations which stifle free enterprise, waste plenty of money, and cause the problems of the family you listed.
It is true that the number one topic of arguments in families is money, followed by infidelity, real or imagined. But lots of times it is not how much money the couple has, but who gets to say how it will be spent. Or one of them wants to take a better job which will mean moving to a distant location, and the other does not want to move.
A common refrain is "your job is more important to you than I am," which is unfair and cannot realistically be discussed in those terms. Once they decide they cannot trust each other with the joint expenses, the marriage is pretty much over. Again, this is not about how much they have, as it is probably at least as common among those with good jobs as those without. Poor people often stay together just because they cannot afford to run two households.

The push for the almighty dollar is part of the problem - you're partially right.
I think a more complete answer, though, can draw from Christian teaching about original sin. The bonds that hold familes and spouses together must, I believe, overcome the proclivity we all have to screw things up. For some people (fat-cat capitalists, for example), that proclivity leads them to destroy the fortunes and happiness of other people for increased profit margin or sacrifice familial relationships at the altar of late nights spent at work. For others, the temptation to see whether the grass truly is greener on the other side may commit acts of unfaithfulness or selfishness.
But all of us has that proclivity. Just when we think life can't get any better, there is that gnawing - at first imperceptible, but building and growing until it becomes unavoidable - to let it all go to hell. We hurt ourselves and others in the process. None of us is innocent. That's just part of the human experience.

Not only are your observations right on target, the competition between men and women that goes on now does not bode well for the family as a stable unit. It has nothing to do with gay people in a same-sex household.
Everybody swooned in delight when the nation's divorce rate went down to the level of 1970. But I remember 1970, and everybody was talking about the divorce rate then and how it approached 50%!

So why is it that families were much more stable and abortions much less back in the days when the wife/mother stayed at home?
The influx of feminism is the primary cause for the family breakdown and increase in abortions.

Pope Paul VI did major phrophicies which have all come to pass in his encyclical "Humanae Vitae" (1968) ... check it out
------ ------ ------
Blessed Mother Teresa (1994 Washington DC):
* It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.
* If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people to not kill each other? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.

I agree with you but I would not say just corporate greed destroys families.
MONEY and INFEDIELITY destroys families.
People say that the reason why most people these days are divorcing is because of money problems. Alot of men and women cheat on their spouses also. Many people are getting married too early and are having children too soon.

actually ... I think we do a poor job of educating our kids ... and a good example is how we teach kids that the bible is 'real' ... instead of telling them the truth ... we don't trust them enough to tell them the truth so we use forms of manipulation ... and we set them up for failier
we should not be surprised about kids making poor decisions like unplanned pregnancy and early marriage ... more than not we push them into it ... so socially things will 'look right' ... the 'traditional marriage' doesn't have much of a place in society today ... we just dont want to let it go

Lies and deceit between the involved parties. What harm do two people in love, who happen to be of the same sex, do to marriage? I've never understood that point.
