Sorry Princess Kitty, but if you click on the envelope you send a copy of the question to someone else.
To send a message to the asker of a question, you click on their avatar (or photograph, if they have one), and see if they accept emails or Instant Messages. You can actually do the same for people that have responded to questions too.

If they had asked a question on here you simply go under the Answer this Question box and right underneath it should be a little row of icons. Click on the 3rd one. Its a little envelope and that should send them a message/e-mail.
