Being "flex fuel" adds coolness to it regardless. Plus in the near future biofuels will be made cheaper and you'll have a lot more money than the dude paying $5 a gallon for gas. I don't care who you are, that's "cool!"
Plus knowing you're helping prevent global warming, everyone will appreciate the "coolness" you bring to the planet.

The Flex Fuel cars look identical to conventional gasoline models save for the fact that they can be sold with a yellow paint job, so I believe that there will be an increase in Flex Fuel vehicle sales. They cost the same as conventional models and here's the kicker: they are "flex", meaning that buying one does not mean you can only fill up your tank with E85 ethanol. Rather, there is an onboard oxygen sensor which detects the type of fuel being used and instantly adjusts the engine. Because of this, drivers can use gasoline and treat their flex fuel vehicle as a conventional model at no extra cost while appearing to have taken a step in helping the environment. Plus, ethanol has become wildly popular
For all these, reasons, I believe that many more young people will purchase flex fuel vehicles.

Yes, and car manufactures are now realizing it. The American companies are still a few years behind the foreign. However, many company's such as Ford are just making lighter cars with less horsepower to get better gas mileage. I really believe flex/fuel is not the answer. What we will save on fuel we will pay else where for high priced consumer items that use Corn. The American car companies need to focus on hybrid rather than flex fuel. Whatever the answer is, America needs to become less dependant on oil from country's who hate the US.

I think environmentalism in general is getting cool, so any car that is known to be extra efficient (like hybrids) or to run on alternative fuels, has extra cool factor.
I've heard, though (on NPR's "Science Friday") that ethanol is not actually any safer for the environment--as far as air pollution and global warming are concerned--than fossil fuels are. The only advantage of ethanol (the alternative for flex-fuel cars) is that it helps reduce our dependence on oil.
So, when it's time for me to get another car, I'd prefer a hybrid, and a wider variety of cooler looking hybrids is getting to be available. I'm hoping there will be a flex-fuel hybrid available by the time I'm in the market again. How cool would that be?

Yes and no. While E85 is a "cleaner" fuel than regular gasoline, it doesn't quite have the same miles per gallon and regular gas. E85 performs at approximately 70-80% of what normal gasoline does, therefore any savings that you get at the pump currently is negated because you have to fill up more. Also, E85 pumps are few and far between, that also adds to the problem.

I don't think that the new chevy's look cool, plus the flex fuel deal just means that they can use either E85 or plain unleaded or premium fuel. I believe that younger people will buy them so they can feel they are making a difference and that is good, but I believe I would buy a japanese hybrid vehicle that gets closer to 50 mpg. I have to commute to work so it makes sense for me to get one that can get more miles per gallon.

They don't look any different than the regular gas versions.
With E85 costing more than regular, I don't think anyone is going to jump on that bandwagon.
