Which is the better New York neighborhood?

Ok. My wife & I is contemplating leaving Chicago to New York in a couple of years, taking our two young sons with us? Which is a good(and least expensive)neighborhood to move to as far as public schools and safety?

If you have children, you should move to the suburbs either Long Island, Westchester County, North New Jersey, Bergen County, or Southeast Connecticut, Fairfield County. The schools in the suburbans are the best in the country. Taxes needless to say are also the highest in the country. As far as NYC itself, northeast Queens, around Bayside and Little Neck, have really good schools and are safe neighborhoods.

i'm helping a chum circulate there now. Queens is greater low priced and you're closer to manhattan is maximum situations. specifically, some great neighborhoods there are Astoria, Jackson Heights and wooded area Hills. And FYI, they're spoke of as boroughs.

For the city the school system sucks I went to NYC schools and they are awful. For good schools it's good to live in the suburbs, Rockland County is a little cheaper then Westchester though.

NASSAU COST AN ARM AND A LEG IN TAXES YEARLY.
IF YOUR LOOKING FOR INEXPENSIVE LOOK ELSEWHERE NOTHING IN NYC IS INEXPENSIVE. THE RENTS ARE AT ALL TIME HIGHS. THE REAL ESTATE SLUMP THAT THE REST OF THE COUNTRY IS HAVING DOESN'T APPLY TO NYC WE ARE SETTING RECORDS FOR RENTALS AND APARTMENT PRICES. I WOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE UNLESS YOU GET A HOOK UP. EVEN THE BAD NEIGHBORHOODS IN NYC COMMAND AT LEAST 1K RENT PER MONTH AN A ONE BEDROOM APT. IT'S NOT THAT WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE BUT WITH TWO KIDS IT'S NOT EASY. WEIGHT YOUR OPTIONS.
