should your friend pay you for babysitting services or get a discount or should it just be something you do for friends.

Well-I think it depends on how much your friend is expecting you to babysit--if it is just once in awhile--fine--and if it is reciprocated--if you both do each other favors--it's cool--but if one person is repeatedly expecting the other to do free favors--to give up time and energy for them--then it is more like using--maybe unconsciously--but then they are taking the friendship for granted. Of course, there are special circumstances--like if the friend is ill--going through a tough time, etc..we all make exceptions for unusual times. But if it is just life as usual, and one friend keeps expecting more--well--put a stop to it by setting limits and saying no. If the friendship ends after that, then you know it was about using you.

I always offer to pay friends and family who watch my kids. Sometimes they take the money and sometimes they don't. I always pay up after they watch my boys thinking that they will take it but some days it's nice to know friends are still friends. After they watch your child be prepared to pay them most of the time they won't accept but if they do it's still okay!

It depends.

If its a swap thing, your friend also watches your kids equall, then no payment.

Otherwise, if its something you offer, I wouldnt expect a payment.

If its something they ask you to do, then something in return is justifiable. Maybe not money, but some sort of a gift or gesture at least.

That depends....is it an occasional thing...if so I would do it for free....and they should do the same for you....

However, if is a more common, they should pay. I might give them a little brake over people whom I am not friends with, but not much of one.

some I pay. Some I don't. Depends on them. I don't want to take advantage... so I always offer to pay

you should come up with an agreement...if you babysit for them maybe they'll babysit for you in exchange or buy you supper or something you know unless your fine with doing it for free

If it's a once in a while thing, do it for free, if it becomes more like a habbit then yes you should be paid.
