you all are avoiding the obvious. He DID perform the miracle so evidently she was telling him that his time HAD come.

Since he resisted even performing that miracle because his "time had not yet come" that would explain why he had not performed any public miracles up until that point.

But some miracle had to be first. I think it was important that he did it as his mother's request and that it was a wedding.

Also...wine...which is part of the Eucharistic sacrament and represents the blood that would be shed. He changed water to wine...water and blood (which is represented by the wine) flowed out of his side on the cross.

Everything Jesus did had meaning.

He honored his mother and we follow his example and honor her too as well as our own mothers. The commandment to "honor your father and mother" is the only commandment that includes a promise..."so your days may be long upon the earth."

He was at a wedding...obviously giving great weight to the sacrament of marriage.

The disciples were commencing to understand Jesus yet Mary already believed in him. In John's gospel he relates purely 7 Miracles and calls them works or signs and indications. This wedding ceremony became also an illustration of alternative weddings - of God with humanity. Jesus says his time had no longer yet come, his authentic hour will be that of his interest and Resurrection. The water that Jesus used to grow to be wine became the water the Jews used for purification, by technique of fixing this Jesus signified that authentic faith could no longer be perplexed with the phobia of sin and obsession with averting defilement.Jesus manifested his glory to those commencing to discover him and Mary intervened to hasten the beginnings of the Gospel and her very last words are ' Do regardless of he tells you'. This we too could do. God bless

He did. Don't forget that the King James bible is a collection of gospels that were originally voted as acceptable by the various holy synod's. There are still a number of other gospels, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Christian Apocrypha, etc. Amongst these are the Infancy Gospels, of James, Mathew and Thomas, which describe miracles performed by Jesus as a boy.

True, maybe it just wasn't in the bible. I saw a show on the History channel about books of the bible that were cut out for being too controversial at the time. One has a young Jesus playing with a boy who falls from a rooftop and breaks his neck. The boy's parent's blame Jesus. Jesus resurrects the boy and the boy says he slipped on his own accord.

timing. God had a specific time in which His Son should perform miracles. He executed the water-to-wine because of commandment 5 I believe: honour your Father and your mother. by not disrespecting Mary's wishes, He was honoring His mother.

Actually, according to the apocryphal Gospel of Thomas (which was only not included in the Bible because of an arbitrary decision by the committee that decided these things), he actually used his 'powers' often as a kid.

He was actually quite the bully, apparently. Read the whole thing in my source and decide for yourself.

You're kidding, right? "Mother Mary" gave Jesus the OK that it is time to start His ministry? Get a real grip. Mariology run amok.
