Many people use condoms as a way to have sex without consequences. They think this protects them from disease, unwanted pregnancy, and the other negative aspects of premarital sex. The Church teaches that sex outside of marriage always has negative consequences because condoms can't protect you against the pain of degrading your body, your spirit, your future spouse, and your future children.

Condoms are a form of birth control. Sex is considered to be sacred between a man and his wife. It is not to be done outside the sanctity of marriage. If this is so and both are faithful condoms are not a needed.
Many Catholics have a hard time with this aspect and it is a source of debate among some of us. I believe birth control is a lot better than the alternative of abortion.
Peace be with you.

Catholics doctrine says that any use of sex without allowing it to lead to a child is a sin. This goes for masturbating, any birth control, abortion or any other interuption of the birth process.
You are not even supposed to do the "rhythm" method, since that is an artificial attempt to count your days, and have sex when you are not ovulating. It is dishonest.
That said, I think that doctrine in irresponsible, foolish, and makes liars out of millions of Catholics who do use birth control of some sort.
It was started in a time, when women were supposed to have as many children as possible-to have souls and workers and contributors for the church. Men counted their riches by how many sons they had and how often their wife was pregnant. It was about status, and control.
In modern times, it is immoral and disgusting to have children you cannot care for. It is the basest child abuse.
The Catholic church is run by frustrated old men, who think women are not as good as they are. If they were, they could be priests, and leaders in the church.
Their edicts are based on keeping women (and other men) submissive.
It is way past time for it to fall. It will fall when people are more educated, and don't fear for their souls.

Because the Vatican, while usually theologically sound, has absolutely no clue about human sexuality. The members of the clergy are voluntarily celibate so they don't know anything about marriage, sex, and having and raising children. I'm a Catholic and I pay no attention to the Vatican's teachings on birth control. The Vatican should just stick to teaching theology, because that's what they understand, and leave the teaching about sexuality and birth control to the doctors. A celibate teaching about birth control makes about as much sense as an atheist teaching about religion.

Because it's not natural!!!!!!!!!!! That's not the way God planned. If you're going to do the action that makes you have babies you should 1. Be married, 2. Not use anything artificial to prevent having children. It's God's Will whether you have children or not so you can't use condoms to prevent God's Will from happening! Do you understand?

According to some religious beliefs, using contraception is like playing God by preventing conception. At least that's the answer that was given to me when I asked the same question.

because, you shouldnt need them. the catholice church believes in only sex after marriage and u shouldnt worry abt getting preggers. god lets all things happen, and if he chooses to give u the gift of life, you should accept it. not abort and murder it.
the church is not against condoms. we kno that we cant stop ppl from having sex. we would rather have u use protection then to get pregnant, and have an abortion. u will go to hell 4 that.

The idea that people need to go forth and multiply and FILL THE EARTH has already been achieved is not yet understood. Give the Vatican time to make the connection, it's only been filled a few hundred years and the wheels of religion grind so very slowly.

god intended sex for reproduction. they believe it should be natural. instead of using condoms or pills MARRIED couples should practice the rythym method, which is when you track your menstrual cycle and have sex during the time of the month when you are least likely to get pregnant.

Catholics believe that you shouldn't spill your "seed", that the only place a man's seed should be collected is within his wife. See Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life", specifically "Every Sperm is Sacred".
