I came down with an awful cold today and it is one of my usual workout days. Should I rest since I feel tired and weak or will working out boost my energy level and shorten the length of the cold?

Most doctors will recommend you rest. Working out could take the energy your body needs to focus on healing. I would suggest you rest, drink lots of fluid, get extra sleep, take extra Vitamin C, and go back in two days or once you are feeling yourself again. Good luck, hope you are feeling better soon!

I think your child is bored and doesn't know how to distract/play on her own. I think you need to introduce another child to the household (other than your 4 year old), like a neighbour's child of the same age. Or do you have a mother & child unit nearby where you can go with your child and at the same time as she is playing and you are nearby, you can chat to other mums. You will find that this is a very common question and you also might get some tips from other mums as to how they introduced their children to nursery. She is very dependant on you because you are the one that has raised her and been there constantly and this is a hard habit to break especially as she is still in effect a baby. Try some educational toys that require her to pay attention to them and leave her for small periods at a time constantly coming back to check on her and reassure her that although you are not in sight you are helping her to realise that you are close at hand. When she first starts crying it will be hard because she will also realise that every time she crys you come, so leave her a short while and then increase the spaces between, say 15 mins for about a week and then 1/2hr. I know its difficult but you don't want to get her in such a state that she vomits. Good Luck!

I am in the same senerio! but i worked out all week and feel much better!

yes just keep it on the low. don't push. your body will certainly slow you down if your nose is stuffed you won't get the best air and if you hvae a cough, you will hack a bit.

but I did it all week and feel better that i moved . I do zumba and step aerobics. did them all , 4 workouts this week. im 25 lbs overweight. I am certainly NOT a workout queen, but have been trying. No cold is going ot keep me back. haha

good luck
ps-if you have fever, don't work out. have soup and milk it for all its worth!

Rest a lot.... Making your body work harder when it's trying to heal, will not only take up physical stress on you, but it could make the cold worse. If you REALLY want to work out, I suggest taking Airborne.

Go ahead and rest. The work-outs can be resumed when your body's not trying to fight a cold too.

Feel better!

You really should rest your body when you are ill...take a day or two off of your workout.
