Diet soda can have an after-taste. Some don't have much of an aftertaste. Sometimes a diet Coke or Pepsi does not have any aftertaste at all and tastes just like a regular one. One thing diet soda doesn't have is the corn syrup (sugar) that makes your heart race and give you very little patience. When you give up regular soda for a long while, you can definitely feel the effects of that sugar when you do drink a regular soda. Not to mention, it is also much better for your teeth, not to be constantly sipping a sugary soda all day long without brushing!

Maybe you should just drink water instead.

I have been a diet soda drinker since way back in the days of Tab. Now if people think diet soda with aspartame has an aftertaste, they should have had it back then with Sweet 'n Low. That was awful. But we'd drink it anyway because 1 calorie was way better than the 150 in regular soda. So, the diet sodas today are SO much better than they were. I've gotten so used to them that I prefer them over regular soda since regular now tastes too sweet for me. But in the last two weeks, I've tried to eat healthier and drink more water. I've actually not had any soda this week at all...not because I consciously gave it up but because with all the water I'm drinking, if I add other liquids, I may as well LIVE in the darn bathroom!

Diet soda has a bitter, salty after taste while regular soda does not. Although with sprite I have not noticed this after taste nearly as much... probably because it's got a bite to it already.

diet soda has a sweeter, less bubbly taste, while normal soda has a more bubbly carbonation type flavor to it..ever tried to drink a coke warm??

It may taste strange at first, but by the time you finish your first 12 pack, you won't really mind the taste difference.
