Pasta salad,or macaroni salad. You might try a fresh green salad,or perhaps cucumbers ,onions and fresh tomatoes, add some oil and vinegar,a dash of sugar, and some basil. Dessert, how about some ice cream? Or pound cake with a scoop on top. There's also strawberry shortcakes go well at cookouts

Take some corn on the cob with the husks still on them soak in water for about 30 Min's.Then pull back the husks but don't remove the husks get all the hair off.The wrap 1 slice of bacon like a candy cane on each piece of corn replace husks then wrap tightly in foil.Make sure you keep corn cold until ready to to BBQ. BBQ as normal remember to turn the corn while it cook.
You can also just cook the corn without the bacon and when it done slather in butter sprinkle Chile powder and Parmesan cheese on it..

Pink Lemonade Lime Dip It sounds funny, but it is so good, You serve it with fresh fruit or sugar cookies, or anything else you think it might go well with. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 1 (6 ounce) can frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed 1 teaspoon grated lime rind 1. Stir together all ingredients in a small bowl until blended. Cover and chill at leat 2 hours. OR Layered Hummus Dip The Mediterranean version of the ever popular Mexican layered dip. Instead of using garlic salt, I mix a large clove of pressed garlic with the hummus. Serve with toasted pita, flat bread or tortilla chips. 8 ounces prepared hummus 1/8 teaspoon cumin 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes garlic salt 1/4 cup chopped cucumbers fresh ground pepper 4 ounces crumbled feta cheese 2 tablespoons chopped kalamata olives 2 tablespoons chopped parsley 2 cups 1. Combine hummus and cumin, spread on the bottom of a 9 inch pie dish. 2. Top with a layer of tomatoes, seasoned with garlic salt. 3. Add the cucumbers and sprinkle with pepper. 4. Add a layer of feta topped with olives, then parsley. Don't want anything with MAYO in it on a hot day...here are a few suggestions..

Baked beans, coleslaw, pasta salad, cucumber salad, grilled corn on the cob are all great sides. For the dessert, pull out the homemade ice cream maker for one of the first batches of summer. Serve ice cream with pound cake & cool-whip.....You could also do a melon bowl with watermelon, cantelope & honeydew.......Don't forget the sweet tea!!

I just gave this answer to someone who asked about something different to cook in the summer. Along with your cookout food grill up some peaches. Cut them in half and remove the pit, brush with balsamic vinegar & a pinch of cinnamon and grill on both sides for 5 min. It goes great with grilled chicken and guest are always impressed with them.

Sliced fresh pineapple on the grill! The slices go great on your burgers if you have marinated them in a little teriyaki sauce.
For sides, you could do bread and butter chunk deviled eggs (miracle whip and diced bread and butter pickles), greek salad, asparagus on the grill, tortillini pasta salad, or canteloupe slices.

So you wait
I'm in California
You can BUY Potato salad, Macaroni salad, veggie platters cheese platters.,, IN the deli.
You can also get roast chicken and spareribs in some.
Go ask your supermarket deli manager But unless you do this often buy everything you can so you don't work your fanny off and are exhausted on Sunday.
Don't forget the ice cream.
