i want to live in new york state, but not be too expensive to live there please help me find the perfect place

Find a nice university town and look into living there. The Ithaca area is great in that sense. Buffalo is good as well. Plattsburg is okay. Lake Placid if you like winter sports and beautiful mountains.

The NY Metro area meaning NYC and its burbs is extremely expensive. Yet you want to live in a Metro area, like Albany Metro area or Syracuse Metro area, the reason being if you move into a small town, folks there aren't so eager to make friends with those who didn't grow up in the community.

Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx have been area of manhattan city for over a hundred years. before (for the time of most of the 1800's), manhattan city consisted in basic terms of ny and a few tiny islands, yet that replaced into over a hundred years in the past.

Newfield NY is very nice little farm town with friendly people.
It's close to Ithaca if you want to be close to city.
