It is made up of actual of three. The First Four books are the Gospel, Then Comes the writings or Epistles and then the last book is prophecy.

It's actually three for the New Testament:
Historical: Four Gospels + Acts
Epistles: Romans through Jude + the seven letters in Revelation
Prophetic: the rest of Revelation
I know "Historical" and "Prophetic" may not be the right words to describe a "type of literature," but it's the best I can do - I'm a rocket scientist, not an English major. :)
