So many churches baptize "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" It's not the same.
Jesus never took upon himself of no reputation. But he told in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the "name" of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 28:18 he said All power is given unto me in heaven and earth.
Acts 2:38 & 39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you and to ypur children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
How do you explain this away? Do you never slow down to see what the scripture is saying? Is something wrong with the name of Jesus? Are you ashamed of him? Did you know he died for your sins?
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 4: 10-12
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Isreal, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I am totally agreeing with your question. I am Apostolic and i would NOT be baptised in nothing but Jesus Name, ya feel me. but i think that some people dont really read the way they should or they dont understand the way it should. the bible in Matthew 28:18 to be baptised in the NAME NAME NAME of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost. what is His name. JESUS. i will take it a step further, for the people that say that God's name wasnt Jesus, it says in the bible that the father and the son are one. Jesus said, "if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father for we are one". and it says to baptise in Jesus name because thats where the power is. that is where the promise of the holy ghost is coming from. that is where your eternity will be determined.
"marvel not, and i say unto you, you must be born again."
"except a man be born of water and of the spirit he can not enter the kingdom of God"
God Bless

There is nothing wrong with being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Any body that has the understanding of the Holy Ghost will know this. The Bible does not contradict itself. Jesus in the book of Matthew and Peter in the book of Acts both were saying the same thing.
Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Notice it does not say two baptisms, or which ever way you feel like. Jesus told us how and Peter done it. Peter had the revelation of Jesus Christ. We see that in Matthew 16:17
I have been and proud of it. I am not ashamed of his name.
Praise the wonderful name of Jesus.
The sweetest name I know.

This question shows so much ignorance it is unimaginable.
The word "Jesus" did not exist at the time of Christ. We are not even sure what Christ's name was although many think it was probably Yeshua.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
This is why we often use "In Christ's name" as opposed to "In Jesus' name".
I doubt if God has a problem with people using any name for him as long as they use it with love and respect. God speaks all languages and most of all God speaks the language of a person's heart. God knows your heart and insisting on a specific name for Christ will not help you avoid anything.

This is nit picking! This scripture is used by those who follow the "oneness" movement, and they believe that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all Jesus so that baptizing in the
"Name" of Jesus is the only true way.
Personally I would like to know why the theif on the cross was not baptized in the "Name." He was not even baptized at all.
Does that mean he wasn't acceptable to God, and Jesus lied when He told him that he would be with Him in Paridise that day?
The Trinity as a word is not in scripture, but if anyone studies the scripture long enough throughout the Old Testament and New Testament the concept is strongly implied and then finally proven so much so that all exegetical arguments against it fail.
There is only one thing that is essential to salvation. Repentance and faith in Jesus Christ's blood shed for our sins. That act of faith produces works out of thankfulness and love of God for His great mercy.
Anyone who comes in here to dispute doctrine should leave their arguments for a more appropriate time or email others.
Our purpose is to reach the lost with a message of hope.
Our disputations over exactly what the Bible says need to be addressed outside of this forum. While we are in doctrinal battlefields. the battle for souls is being neglected.
Let's get our priorities straight!

I think that you are picking at straws on this one. You actually contradicted yourself just by your use of Matthew 28:19. If Jesus said baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Ghost, and that is exactly what a church is doing, then what is the problem? If a church chooses to use that instead of baptizing in the name of Jesus Christ then why should that be an issue? If a church chooses to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ why should that also be an issue to some people?
Edit: I still think that you are picking at straws. Why should Christians argue among themselves, especially about points of theology? We should be banded together and not divided by the scripture.

Actually, there are many denominations that baptize in the Name of Jesus.
I am aquainted with some "Jesus Name" people and they have the impression they are the only ones who Baptize in the name of Jesus. And that is incorrect. Many Assemble of God churches and even Baptist churchs will say when they baptize, "I now baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and In Jesus' Name"...and then do the dunking.

There is much controversy over this subject of water baptism...really,we should be baptised into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
The Matthew account of: Father,Son and Holy Spirit,I do not see as a baptismal formula. The point that Jesus was making to the disciples was "TO GO" into all nations of the world, make disciples and baptise them in the name(or power, authority) of the God head.....He did not come back to tell the disciples that he forgot to tell them which name to baptise in...THEY already knew...

There is nothing wrong to baptized in Jesus name
there is a group of people named "Jesus Only" they baptized in Jesus name because they don't believe in theTrinity.
here its wrong because this is a false teaching.
when baptizing we declare and witness our believes so this is also why its important to be in the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
