People at my school (middle school) have been talking about things such as cloud nine. Some say for example "its m and Krista on cloud 9 not you" I would like to know what Clud 9 is please?

In my day, Cloud nine was an expression for being very happy, like if you passed your exams or fell in love you were on Cloud Nine.

On cloud nine (a euphoric state). The phrase appears to be American. Originating from the U.S. Weather Bureau's rating of clouds. A cumulonimbus cloud is rated 9 often reaching 40,000 feet. In the 1950s a popular radio show "Johnny Dollar" in a recurring episode the hero was knocked unconscious and awoke on cloud nine.

According to Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable:
'The expression derives from terminology used by the United States Weather Bureau. Clouds are divided into classes, and each class into nine types. Cloud nine is cumulonimbus, a cumulus cloud of great vertical extent, topped with shapes of mountains or towers'.
Other people derive it from the ninth circle of heaven in Dante's Divine Comedy (i.e. the nearest to God).
The OED doesn't give a derivation, but notes that 'cloud seven' has also been used. It quotes from Flexner and Wentworth's Dictionary of American Slang (1960), which defines 'On cloud seven' as 'completely happy, perfectly satisfied, in a euphoric state'.

It means at a very good place to be. In the context of your example...I would say the person is trying to tell you that M and Krista are better than you....which is a load of bull....do not ever let anyone tell you that you are not as good as someone else....status is not what you should be concerned with at your age, concentrate on your education, there will be time enough for status for the rest of your entire life...you only get one shot at education........

It's one of the songs by bryan adams , cloud 9 means something which really means alot to you..When you get something like that , u say your on cloud no. 9
