my boyfriend and i were getting ready to leave.we opened the front door, i forgot my money so we went back for like 10 seconds. We walked back tinto my living room and i saw the dogs got out in the front yard so i opened the door and they came right in the house.i cked the door and left. we were walking to my car the man next door was yelling at us.he said that my 2 dogs dragged his wife off their porch, and the neighbors saw it happen. we argued for a minute he told us that his wife called the police.the neighbors said they watched, they said my dogs didnt show any agression, didnt get on the pourch, her golden retriver dragged her off the pourch, and my dogs were smelling her dog. we told the man what they said, but then he said my dog bit her. she was nowhere to be found. the cops wrote a dog bite report and didnt even ask the neighbors about what happened. the women next door had two red spots on her knuckles it looked like she scraped her hand on the concrete. any suggestions??

Oh they better have better proof than that... Being a person that don't take crap from people I would use all means of the law and find an animal rights lawyer. Take pictures of the "bite" and compare that to your dogs teeth. UGH! I hate people that cause trouble for no reason!
Best of luck to you

Yes, get the witnesses to put their statements into writing asap. Also, take your dogs to the vet for a check up and have the vet state that the dogs are healthy and are not exhibiting any odd behavior.
If things start to escalate then you could consider hiring a lawyer for advice.
You did not mention what breed your dogs are but that may play into the matter regardless of their innocence. Since you did not see what happened then perhaps the husband didn't see that it was his dog that pulled the wife down first but came out when she yelled or something, and saw your dogs there and assumed that's what happened.
Also, it sounds like the skin was not punctured, so that is indicative of a dog being playful or out of hand, but not aggressive. So, take a deep breath, talk to the witnesses about writing their statements down and call your vet. Your vet can help you from there on.
Good luck.

Get your neighbor's or witnesses to write out a statement have them date and sign it. Ask them to write what they saw. This way you have it in writing and no one change their minds or forget. Make copies. Take the statements to your neighbors and try to talk it out. Show them what you. Something in black and white goes alot further. Also go to the police station and show them the witness statements. This also helps you because you do not have to get your neighbors to go with you and get them involved. Most people shy away from that and that is when you get people saying they do not remember. You can also find out if the police observed any bite marks and try to get the matter resolved with the police. Usually with dig bites the dog will be quarantined for 10 days, but they usually would take the dig right then and there. Your neighbors can say what they want but if you have independent witness statements you have alot better chance of not paying a possible lawsuit. And try to make sure your dogs never go over there again. It would only cause more problems.

the first thing that will happen is your sister will be asked to show proof the dog is up to date on it's shots. If it is and without you wanting to press charges they'll have a talk with her about owning a vicsious dog and the liabilities that come with it. If the dog is not current on shots then your sister needs to take the dog to her vet to be quarantined now or they'll take it and charge her for it's boarding the 7 - 10 days they keep them for observation. At least if the dog is at the vets office there are folks there the dog knows and it'll get a little better care. As long as you're around to make whoever shows up aware that the dog bit you as a direct result of you making it feel threatened by picking it up maybe too quickly or holding it wrong then nothing may come of it.

Ask the neighbors if any of them would be a witness in court.
If there are some that do not want to, ask those that do not, if they would not care to write out a sworn affidavit and ask them if they would go with you to a notary public, to be witness to it being notarized.
It might be advisable if you were to get sworn affidavits for all the witnesses. Since there may be some that change their minds about being there.
This comes in handy if any of your neighbors do not want to appear on your behalf in court. These sworn affidavits will be counted as their testimonies.
Next call a lawyer so you can be ready in case the man and his wife decide to sue you. When the lawyer asks about witnesses tell him that there are and that you have sworn affidavits from all of them. Tell him which ones said they would be willing to appear.
This will also help the lawyer to cut down on the leg work of trying to subpoena witnesses.

Most people who get bit by someones dog goes to the hospital and gets check, also the hospital phones the animal control to make sure that the dog that bit them has a rabie shot. The cops should not be involved for a dog bite it is animal control that gives the ticket. Good Luck been there.

Have the witnesses go to the police station and write a formal statement saying what they seen, that way no action can be brought upon your dogs.As in most states a dog that bites is put to sleep and in situations where it is unknown which dog it was usually both will be taken. Good luck and hopefully all goes well.

I would get statements from the neighbors stating what they saw, get copies from the vets office that everything is current, and every conversation that you have with the neighbors (the ones accusing your dogs) record them without them knowing.( I know that's not admissible in court but it sure helps when you have something to fall back on.)

Try to get written statements from the witnesses and have them notarized, then wait and see what the neighbor does. If they file charges or anything like that, at least you have documentation that says your dogs didn't do it. If they decide to file a lawsuit they can be called as witnesses.
Good luck!

Do Not let those dogs get out anymore without being on a leash!!!!!!!!
The police will be watching if nothing else!!!! If your neighor sees those dogs out again he will call the poliuce I am sure of that!!!!
I hope your dogs have had their shots!!!!
If your dogs would get out again I am sure they will take them away from you!!!
Do you have a fenced in backyard?? If so that would be the only way they would get out!!!
Never never out the front door again!!!!!!!!
Good Luck
