so i just joined ballys im not overweight im just trying to tone up my body im 5'6 and 142 im just wondering how long should i work out for and should i work out everyday??? im really targeting my stomach area and my lovehandles as well as trying to tone my arms and butt.what r some good exercise machines at the gym 4 these areas?..also what kind of food should i eat before and after working out????????????

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Do weight training 3 times a week and cardio 2 times a week, you should not work out more then an hour and since you are wanting to just tone, do light weight and more reps. Before you work out have a protein shake or drink. The trainers at the gym will be able to direct you to the machines that you need. Good Luck.

You cannot spot reduce. All the problem areas that you mentioned cannot be isolated and decreased. The body will not allow this to happen. When you begin to lose fat, it will decrease throughout the body. So, you might lose half a cup size (if you're a female) before you see any significant change in the stomach area. What you can do is eat healthy. This will cause the biggest change in the shape of the body. In addition to this, exercise often and intensely. Incorporate heavy weight training.
