I like em both too. I wish all Country stars would support each other and honor their music, this cat fighting puts down the entire profession.

Good music is good music. Doesn't matter who the artist is. Or what the format is.

I like some of the Chicks, some Toby Keith, some George strait, Alan Jackson, Beach Boys, Deep Purple, Credence Clearwater....and more! Reba too. And Brooks and Dunn.....And Bread.....any of you old enough to remember Bread? Some John Denver too. Some Classical.
Some Gospel. Some Mamas & Pappas,
Pete Seeger (Where have all the Flowers gone) I like some Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard.

Most of these folks views are or were oppsed to each other

Do not like that "JEsus take the wheel" girl though.

Edit: By the way, doesn't this belong over on the Politics category?

Sure if you can separate the music from the politics. To me the big difference is The Dixie Chunks made it personal by put down the President by name. Toby never said he's back the war in Iraq. Toby's supports our troops and are President as the leader of this country. He's a resident Democrat and probably didn't even vote for Bush, none the less even if you don't support what the President is doing that is no reason to attack and defame him, especially in a foreign country.

i will answer that one with this. i'm keen on the two acts. despite if I do agree greater with the Dixie Chicks on the political part (sorry American Bush supporters. i'm Canadian regardless of each and every little thing. lol) once I hear to music, i do no longer care approximately politics and etc. As Reba McEntire as quickly as pronounced "there is completely 2 varieties of music. it is the two good or undesirable" and that i think of that applies right here. Reba has additionally had some harsh comments on the topic of the Chicks and that i nevertheless savour her. I additionally nevertheless savour Toby too. the rationalization why i savour all 3 acts is they at the instant are not affraid to declare how they experience. they do no longer take crap from everyone. Take Care, Cindy xoxo

LOL! Yeah, sure. It's sometimes just about the music, not so much the message.

I'm a liberal and I very much agreed with Natalie Maines, and to be honest, I was really embarrased at the idea of advertizing putting a boot up someone's @$$ as being "the American Way," yet the song still gave me chills.

Wait... did brodofett just suggest that you can go to hell for liking the Dixie Chicks??! ROTFLMAO!

I love Toby Keith. I do not like the Dixie Chicks, never have liked them. But whatever, don't really care about their political views.

I am a BIG Toby Keith fan! Love his music and go to his concerts anytime I can.

Used to like the Dixie Chicks, especially their song "Goodbye Earl." At the time I was getting a divorce from the ex-husband and guess what his name was. Yep, you got it, "EARL." LOL

Anyway, when they got involved with the political crap is when I lost interest. When they came back with "We're Not Ready to Make Nice." It dredged it all up again and they sounded like spoiled children throwing a hissy fit over something that was over long ago.

Toby was right, they should "Shut up and sing." That's their job. To this day there are still radio stations that won't play their music. They brought it on themselves, too bad too.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, didn't really answer the question did I? Sure its okay to like them both. You can listen to whatever you want to listen to.

Yes, You can respect their talent and disagree with their politics. I can listen to 'Not ready to make nice', because musically it works as a break up song.

but I can't stand the video because the Visuals make it clear what they mean in the song, and while I would never throw a CD under a steam roller, I have no intentions of giving them any more money either. Nor would I ever consider to stop watching Heroes because the actor who plays Nathan is Natalie's husband

my issue is why 'Angry American' gets dismissed as jingoism and slandered as opportunism, yet the DC could repeatedly change their story. First they were ashamed of W, then they were sorry for saying that, then after W's ratings dipped under 30% and their new CD is due, Natalie recants her apology and they cancel a bunch of 'heartland' concerts and schedule more foreign dates, and they are heralded as 'standing up for free speech'.

I'm still confused about why Garth's 'Thunder Rolls' was restricted in its airplay when it came out, but DC's "Goodbye Earl' was heralded as the 'best thing since Sliced bread' when it came out. yet they both deal with the same subject and end with a dead guy. yeah 'Earl' wa splayed for laughs, but considering the subject matter, humor should have been a negative.

It is highly possible, and attainable, I am proof. I do wish the Chicks would stick to singing. I hate it when an entertainer starts sharing political views. I used to play on a stage, but never dreamed of talking about politics. They wanted to hear music.
